TelePresence: Bringing the Power of In-Person to COP17

TelePresence at COP17/CMP7

As a result of the South African government's commitment to making COP17/CMP7 as environmentally friendly and collaborative as possible, you will be able to conduct in-person meetings with colleagues, counterparts, and constituents in your home countries or other locations while in Durban - though TelePresence. TelePresence is secure, face-to-face video conferencing, delivered in high-definition, allowing you to have quality meeting experiences with those in remote locations. Further outreach is possible through the use of Internet-enabled audio WebEx services, or video conferencing interoperability.

With TelePresence, you can:

Consult with colleagues and other experts at home faster and more productively
Communicate with press organizations in your region or around the world
Bring in perspectives from diverse locations to accelerate and enrich negotiations
Interested parties unable to travel to COP17 can have a virtual presence at the conference

TelePresence Meeting Capabilities at the COP17/CMP7 venue

Invite those outside of Durban to join in important COP17 discussions using TelePresence, with which you can meet face to face without moving from place to place. And with over 150+ global TelePresence locations available, it is convenient for remote attendees to be full participants in critical COP17/CMP7 discussions and meetings.

Two TelePresence video conferencing deployment types will be installed throughout the ICC and DEC at COP17/CMP7, to be used for the following purposes:

1. Private Meeting Rooms for Pre-Scheduled Meetings: Book a Meeting in Advance
Location: Walnut Road - Large Tent between the ICC and DEC
Private "Immersive" Endpoint Types:

CTS 3210 room for pre-scheduled meetings (up to 14 person capacity onsite)
CTS 3010 rooms for pre-scheduled meetings (up to 6 person capacity onsite)

2. Side Event Rooms: Use TelePresence On-Demand
Location: Side Event Rooms in the DEC
Side event rooms are equipped with an MX200 endpoint that allows organizers of side events to have an external expert present to attendees in the side event room.

Internet-enabled audio WebEx services

All of the TelePresence opportunities also have the possibility to connect to audio conferencing using WebEx technology. WebEx makes it possible for those without IP enabled video conferencing to join the TelePresence meetings and collaborate via phone. Through use of WebEx, Side Events organizers may extend their outreach by offering external participants to listen-in, and view presentation content online.
