Eos Privacy Principles
The Cisco Eos™ technology powers some of the world's most exciting community-driven websites and delivers a dynamic entertainment experience that allows you to discover interesting and relevant entertainment content.
We developed Eos with your privacy in mind and want to share with you the privacy principles that Eos lives by:
Transparency is key.- We want you to understand exactly what data Eos collects and how it is used. When you register on an Eos-powered website, you will be asked to create a profile. You may choose to include in your profile information about yourself that is "personally identifiable" - in other words, information that identifies you as a unique individual, such as your name, age, location, or other information. Other than a valid email address, no additional personally identifiable information is required for you to register on an Eos-powered website.
- Eos also separately collects information on how you interact with content and users on Eos-powered websites across the Eos network. None of this clickstream information or data is personally identifiable to you or will be used to identify who you are. We collect this information to enrich and optimize your time on our website by showing you additional content you may enjoy seeing and learning about.
- Eos and its third party service providers collect your usage information via cookies and other similar technologies. None of these technologies collect personally identifiable information about you. As with any website, you can turn off cookies through your web browser. However, without these technologies, you would not be able to experience the full range of the Eos technology, and would find your time on Eos-powered websites less fun and entertaining.
- We hold your personally identifiable information for the owner of the website you registered for (such as a band, label, entertainment, media or content company). Data collected will only be used by Cisco to provide you with the best Eos experience possible including facilitating your registration and sign-on to other Eos-powered sites across the Internet. If you register on multiple Eos-powered websites, your personally identifiable information will be shared with each of the website owners.
- You will never receive marketing or commercial correspondence from us, any Cisco affiliate or partner simply because you registered on an Eos-powered site. If you would like to learn more about Cisco, please check out our website at: www.cisco.com. To see how the owner of the site you registered (or wish to register) for will use your personally identifiable information, you will have to read their privacy policy. If you don't agree with their privacy policy, you should not register on their website.
- We work hard to make sure that Eos operates in a safe and secure environment and that the information you choose to share is kept safe.
- If you choose to leave an Eos-powered website, we will keep your personally identifiable information connected to that website for only a brief period (in case you change your mind) before we purge it from our records for that website. If you leave an Eos-powered website, all of your prior postings to message boards on that website will change to "anonymous" and will not link to any profile; therefore, they will remain in the system but will no longer be attributable to you. However, please be aware that deleting your account on one Eos-powered website does not affect your registration on other Eos-powered websites, and those websites will continue to use your information so long as you remain a member of those websites.
- Aggregated information is the most valuable to Eos. Eos does not keep any long-term record of your browsing behavior or clickstream data, and there is no way for anyone to determine what you were doing on an Eos-powered site. In fact, Eos doesn't care who you are or what you, as an individual, are doing on Eos sites; we only care about the patterns shown through collective users' use of sites across the Eos network.
