Daniel Scheinman, Senior Vice President and General Manager
Daniel Scheinman, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Cisco Media Solutions Group, is responsible for developing and marketing infrastructure products that help digital media content owners improve the content experience for consumers. In this role, he reports directly to Cisco Chairman and CEO John Chambers.
Scheinman has been with Cisco since 1992 and previously was Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, overseeing the merger and acquisition, venture investment, strategic alliance, and technology incubation functions within the company. Under his leadership, Corporate Development helped define how the network can serve as an innovation platform in emerging markets such as India and China. The group also completed more than 40 acquisitions, including Linksys and Scientific Atlanta. These acquisitions, in addition to Cisco partnering and internal engineering efforts, have positioned the Cisco Media Solutions Group as a valuable partner for companies navigating the digital disruption of the media and entertainment industry. Previously, Scheinman was the general counsel at Cisco
Scheinman has been a longtime champion for developing new, network-based distribution models for digital content. One example of his sponsorship is News@Cisco, an online portal launched in 2000 with multimedia information on Cisco opinions, strategies, and news. To better serve the 3 million annual visitors to News@Cisco, Scheinman oversaw the development of technology that became the basis for the Cisco Digital Media Management business unit, launched in 2006 as part of the Cisco Emerging Technologies Group.
Scheinman holds a doctor of jurisprudence degree from Duke University School of Law and a political science degree from Brandeis University.
Loretta Brown, Vice President, Services and Support
Loretta Brown, Vice President of services and support operations for the Cisco Media Solutions Group, oversees the deployment of and day-to-day support for the Cisco EOS platform. In addition, she is responsible for building the Cisco Media Solutions Group professional services business and strategy to help ensure that customers maximize the potential of their Cisco EOS-powered sites.
Brown is a 13-year veteran of Cisco. Previously, she held the role of Vice President, IBM Strategic Alliance, where she led the global engagement for services, sales, and product development. Throughout her tenure at Cisco, she has also been responsible for building strategic relationships between Cisco and Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard, and Oracle. Brown has been a member of the Cisco Gender Diversity Board and continues as a mentor and advocate for diversity.
Prior to joining Cisco, Brown held senior sales positions at Lachman Associates, Wollongong, and Interactive Systems.
Brown has a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and resides in the Seattle area with her family.
Scott Brown, Manager, Marketing
Scott Brown, Manager of marketing strategy for the Cisco Media Solutions Group, is responsible for the communications, marketing, and executive communication
activities for the group.
Prior to the Cisco Media Solutions Group, Brown was the Executive Communications Manager for Daniel Scheinman, who formerly led Cisco Corporate Development. Brown joined Scheinman in forming the Cisco Media Solutions Group in December of 2006 and soon expanded his responsibilities to his current role.
Prior to joining Cisco, Brown was the Executive Communications Director for Scott McNealy, Chairman and CEO of Sun Microsystems. Brown also held a variety of brand strategy and market research roles at Cunningham Communications, supporting high-tech clients such as Cisco, Adobe, Autodesk, Sun Microsystems, and PeopleSoft.
Brown was a research principal and coauthor of the "Net Impact" research series, which explored the global economic and productivity impact of Internet technologies. He coauthored an ESOMAR published paper titled "Net Impact: The Role of Technology in Delivering Citizen Services."
Brown holds a master's degree in marketing from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and a bachelor's degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
Claudia Ceniceros, Senior Director, Business Development
Claudia Ceniceros, Senior Director of content strategy and partnerships in the Cisco Media Solutions Group, is responsible for building strategic, high-level partnerships with media companies, including the studios, music labels, sports franchises and news organizations. In this role, Ceniceros was responsible for developing and leading the Warner Music Group/Cisco partnership, announced in August, 2009. She is also co-chair, and co-developer of the Cisco Media & Entertainment Board.
Before joining the Cisco Media Solutions Group, Ceniceros was Director, business development, in Cisco Corporate Business Development and was responsible for driving content relationships for the consumer division. Ceniceros joined Cisco in 2000, as head of Corporate Public Relations, and led the group until 2004.
Prior to joining Cisco, Ceniceros was Vice President of Corporate Communications for Acclaim Entertainment, a developer and publisher of software for a variety of gaming platforms; Vice President of Strategic Communications at ABC Television Network; and Vice President at Robinson Lerer & Montgomery/Bozell, a strategic communications firm, where she focused on entertainment and other corporate accounts.
Ceniceros graduated from the University of Illinois, Chicago, with a bachelor's degree in philosophy and political science. She has been a frequent speaker at Digital Hollywood and other media industry forums, as well as a board member of the Entertainment Technology Center at the University of Southern California.
John Davi, Director, Engineering
John Davi, Engineering Director for the Cisco Media Solutions Group, oversees the development and delivery of the Cisco EOS platform.
Before joining the Cisco Media Solutions Group in 2007, Davi was Director of Product Development for ClickTV, a startup focused on advanced interactions and metadata collection around video.
Prior to ClickTV, Davi was a founder and CTO of Dallas-based Applied Sports Technology; Director of Product Development at FindLaw (now part of the Thomson Corporation); and Creative Director at AudioBase, a Java-based media-delivery startup in Sausalito, California. He also spent a year as Communications Director for CalCars.org, a nonprofit focused on the advocacy of and engineering development for plug-in hybrid vehicles.
Davi received his bachelor's degree in public policy from Stanford University. He currently performs with the Richter Scales, a San Francisco‐based music and comedy group.
John Healy, Senior Director, Operations
John Healy, Senior Director of Operations and head of sales for CMSG, is responsible for leading the CMSG sales organization, including the development and execution of the group's global customer acquisition strategy.
Healy joined CMSG after a 9-year stint with Akamai, where he held a variety of roles in account management, direct sales and sales management . Most recently Healy was the Regional Manager, Digital Media West where he was responsible for leading Akamai's digital media sales efforts in the western United States. Healy was a founding member of Akamai's digital media organization in 2006, during which time he helped build and lead Akamai's global digital media organization, go-to-market strategy and customer support programs. Healy helped grow the region from $30MM to $130MM, to become Akamai's largest sales region, including 3 of the company's 5 largest customers.
Prior to Akamai, Healy was with Tenneco, Inc. for 8 years, where he held several sales and support roles within the consumer packaging division.
Healy holds a BA in Public Relations from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Healy also holds an MBA from the University of Denver.
Barry Penner, Manager, Customer Service
Barry Penner, Manager of customer support and professional services for the Cisco Media Solutions Group, is responsible for the customer care infrastructure, tools, processes, and services for the group
Bringing more than 15 years of experience in the Internet, supply chain, and consumer technology industries, Penner has served in support management positions at a variety of Web 2.0 startups as well as larger, publicly traded companies. Prior to joining Cisco, Penner was the director of customer support and quality assurance organizations at Citizen Sports Inc. Before that, he developed customer support, professional services, and implementation teams at Advanced Data Exchange for its hosted electronic data interchange web application.
Other past companies include Excite@Home, where Penner built a 24-hour support organization for all commercial products and services as Director of Customer Operations, and Intuit, where he managed all customer support outsource partners for the Quicken personal finance organization.
Penner has a master's degree in business administration from Regis University in Denver, Colorado, and a bachelor's degree in business management from Biola University in La Mirada, California.
Neville Wheeler, Director, Business Development
Neville Wheeler, Director and European Lead of the Cisco Media Solutions Group, is responsible for strategic content and media partnerships, as well as strategy and business development across Europe.
Wheeler has been promoting thought leadership with the Cisco top media accounts since joining the company eight years ago, increasing customer intimacy and managing engagements in Europe and the United States. Previously, he was the Global Lead, Media and Entertainment, for the Cisco Internet Business Solutions Group.
Before joining Cisco, Wheeler was Managing Director EMEA for SightPath (acquired by Cisco), a U.S.-based company transforming the Internet into an effective distribution channel for media content, aimed at telecommunications carriers and large corporations. Before SightPath, he was General Manager of Fujitsu Europe Limited, the sales, marketing, and technical support arm of global giant Fujitsu IT. Prior to that, Wheeler was Managing Director of MultiLink Europe Limited, a subsidiary of PictureTel and a leader in audio and video conferencing and multimedia technology for telecommunications carriers and large corporations.
With more than 20 years of experience in the communications industry and a strong IT engineering background, Wheeler holds a diploma in management studies from Henley Management College and a master's degree in business administration from Brunel University in the United Kingdom. He has been a speaker at many media industry events, including Digital Hollywood in Los Angeles and New York, and the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
