Firmware Version 8.0(2) for Cisco IP Phone Model 7902

The firmware image name within the 8.0(2) installation program is CP7902080002SCCP060817A.sbin

This firmware version supports the Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP) and is supported on Cisco CallManager Release 5.0 and higher, and Cisco CallManager Releases 4.1, 4.0, and 3.3.

Installing the Firmware Load

Perform the following procedure:

  1. Click the following URL: http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/ip-7900ser

 

  1. Download the file that is listed in Table 1 to your hard drive.

Please note that different versions of the installer are needed for different CallManager releases.  Cisco CallManager releases earlier than 5.0 are based on a windows server platform.  CallManager releases 5.0 and later are based on a Linux server platform.

Additionally, please note that starting with CallManager 5.0(4) release, ALL COP files uploaded to the Cisco CallManager must be signed and have the .sgn extension.

 

When using Cisco CallManager Release 5.0 or later

For Cisco CallManager 5.0, you must do all software installations and upgrades by using the Software Upgrades menu options. The system can upload and process only software that Cisco Systems approved. You cannot install or use third-party or Windows-based software applications that you may have been using with a previous version of Cisco CallManager with Cisco CallManager 5.0.

  1. Using your web browser, login to the Cisco IPT Platform Administration web page
  2. Under the Software Upgrades menu, select Install/Upgrade.
  3. Fill in the appropriate values in the Software Location section for the file you downloaded above, and click Next.
  4. In the Available Software drop-down box, select the file you downloaded above, and click Next.
  5. After validating the MD5 has the correct value, click Next.
  6. In the Warning box, verify you have selected the correct firmware, then click Install.
  7. Check that you received a Success message.

   Post-Installation details

   You may verify the installation of a COP file as follows:

  1. Using your web browser, login to the Cisco CallManager Administration web page.
  2. Under the Device menu, select Device Settings > Device Defaults.
  3. Verify the new firmware image name is listed in the Load Information field for the Cisco 7902 SCCP IP phone.

 

When Using Cisco CallManager earlier than Release 5.0

  1. Copy the cmterm-7902G-sccp.8-0-2.exe file to your hard drive.  Make a note of the location where you save the downloaded file.

  2. Double-click the cmterm-7902G-sccp.8-0-2.exe file and the installation starts.

  3. At the Welcome screen, click Next.

  4. At the License Agreement screen, click Yes.

  5. At the SQL Server Authentication screen, enter the login name and the password (by default the login name should be “sa”). Then click Next.

  6. After the installation is completed, click OK.

  7. Reset all the corresponding devices.

   Post-Installation Details

 

    This executable file is to be run on the publisher and it will install the following file:

    CP7902080002SCCP060817A.sbin

    to the call manager's tftppath (c:\program files\cisco\tftppath).

    After installation, open up call manager's administration web page and go to system -> device default.
    You can verify the installation, by looking at "IP Phone 7902" and check the new load name in the corresponding box.
    For example: CP7902080002SCCP060817A.sbin (in this case, the load version is 060817A).

  To downgrade to a previous firmware version:

  1. Go to the Cisco CallManager Administration web page.

  2. From the System menu select Device Default, and the Device Default Configuration page is displayed.

  3. Go to the IP Phone 7902 field and change it back to the previous firmware version.

  4. Click Update.

  5. After the page updates, you can reset the corresponding devices.

 

Cisco IP Phone Model 7902 Alternate Firmware format

The Cisco IP Phone Model 7902 Firmware version 8.0(2) is also supplied in a zip file, as an alternative in case a Cisco CallManager is not available to run the executable installer program.  The name of this file is cmterm-7902G-sccp.8-0-2.zip.

After unzipping the firmware files, manually copy the firmware to the appropriate directory on the TFTP server.
