You must install LMS 4.2.3 and MDF 1.74 before installing the Device Package A detailed list of requirements and instructions to install LMS 4.2.3, is available on Cisco.com. For documentation on Fault Management, see: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/cscowork/ps2421/prod_release_notes_list.html Downloading the Package ======================= To download Fault Management Device Updates : 1. Click http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/navigator.html?a=a&i=rpm. You must be a registered Cisco.com user to access this Software Download site. The site prompts you to enter your Cisco.com username and password in the login screen, if you have not logged in already. 2. Select the Software Product Category as Network Management and Automation. 3. Select Products > Network Management and Automation > Routing and Switching Management > Network Management Solutions > Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution > Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution 4.2.3 > LMS Fault Management Device Package Updates from product tree. 4. Select the application version from the Latest Releases folder. The corresponding Device Package display at the right of the web page. 5. Click the Download Now button to download and save the device package file to any local directory on CiscoWorks Server. Installing the Package ====================== You can install the device package by either: 1. Installing From Cisco.com Using CiscoWorks GUI Or 2. Installing From a Local Directory on CiscoWorks Server Note: You can choose to install other applications device packages along with this device package. Installing From Cisco.com Using CiscoWorks GUI: ----------------------------------------------- To install the FaultManagementDeviceUpdates 3.0 Package from CiscoWorks GUI 1. Go to the CiscoWorks Homepage and select Admin > System > Software Center >Device Update. 2. Check the FaultManagement check box, and click Check for Updates. 3. Go to the Source Location page, select Cisco.com and click Next. You are prompted to enter your Cisco.com User Name and Password. If you have configured proxy settings, you are prompted to enter the Proxy Server User credentials. To access the Proxy Server Setup page, go to the CiscoWorks Homepage and select Admin > System > Cisco.com Settings > Proxy Server Setup. The Proxy Server Setup page appears. Enter the required information in the page to configure your Proxy Server settings. 4. Enter the required credentials and click Next. 5. Select FaultManagementDeviceUpdates from the list of Available Device Packages and click Next. Note: You can choose either to install directly or download to a local directory. If you choose to download, you can install the package later. 6. Select Install Device Packages and click Next. The installation summary appears. 7. Click Finish to confirm your inputs for installation. A window with warnings and installation details appears informing you that all the daemons will be restarted. 8. Click OK to start the installation. Any one of the following messages appears during installation: a. Page Cannot be Displayed b. Page Not Found c. Cannot Find Server or DNS d. Document contains no data This behavior is normal for Software Center when the daemon manager restarts. This may take a few minutes. 9. Close the browser window and log into CiscoWorks again. You can check the installation status from the CiscoWorks Homepage by selecting Admin > system > Software Center >Event Log. To ensure that the installation is successful, go to Admin > System >Software Center > Device Update. Click Fault Management and ensure that the device package you installed is listed. Installing From a Local Directory on CiscoWorks Server: ------------------------------------------------------- You can install the Fault Management Device Updates 3.0 Package from a local directory by either: 1. Using CiscoWorks GUI Or 2. Using PSU CLI Using CiscoWorks GUI: To install the Fault Management Device Updates 3.0 Package using CiscoWorks GUI: 1. Go to Admin > System > Software Center > Device Update from the CiscoWorks homepage. 2. Check the Fault Management check box and click Check for Updates. 3. Go to the Source Location page and select Enter Server Path. 4. Enter the path where the device package file is stored in the local directory and click Next. 5. Select FaultManagementDeviceUpdates from the list of Available Device Packages and click Next. 6. Select Install Device Packages and click Next. The Installation summary appears with details of the selected device packages. 7. Click Finish. Using PSU CLI: To install the Fault Management Device Updates 3.0 Package using Package Support Updates Command Line Interface (PSU CLI): 1. Download the package to a local directory on CiscoWorks server. 2. Enter the following commands to install the package. a. On Solaris: NMSROOT/bin/PSUCli.sh -p dfm -i -src localdirectory FaultManagementDeviceUpdates b. On Windows: NMSROOT\bin\PSUCli -p dfm -i -src localdirectory FaultManagementDeviceUpdates Replace NMSROOT with the actual path of the CiscoWorks installation directory. The following are the default locations of NMSROOT on Solaris and Windows: a. On Solaris: /opt/CSCOpx/ b. On Windows: C:\Progra~1\CSCOpx For more details on using Software Center to install new packages, see: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/cscowork/ps3996/products_user_guide_list.html Verifying Installation: To check whether the Fault Management Device Updates 3.0 is installed successfully: 1. Log into CiscoWorks. 2. Go toAdmin > System > Software Center > Device Update. The Device Updates page appears. 3. Click Fault Management in the Device Updates page. The Package Map for Fault Management Device appears. 4. Locate FaultManagementDeviceUpdates in the Package Map, and check its version. If the version is 3.0, the installation is successful. Uninstalling the Package ======================== To uninstall the Fault Management Device Updates 3.0 Package: 1. Go to Admin > System > Software Center > Device Update from the CiscoWorks Homepage. 2. Check the Fault Management check box and click Delete Packages. The list of installed packages appear. 3. Select FaultManagementDeviceUpdates and click Next. The summary details of the device packages selected for uninstallation appear. 4. Click Finish. Any one of the following messages appears during the uninstallation: a. Page Cannot be Displayed b. Page Not Found c. Cannot Find Server or DNS d. Document contains no data This behavior is normal for Software Center when the Daemon Manager restarts. This may take a few minutes. 5. Close the browser window and log into CiscoWorks again. You can check the uninstallation status from the CiscoWorks Homepage, by selecting Admin > System > Software Center > Event Log. To ensure that the uninstallation is successful, go to Admin > System > Software Center > Device Update. Click Fault Management and ensure that the device package you uninstalled is removed. Uninstalling Using PSU CLI: You can also uninstall the FaultManagementDeviceUpdates 3.0 Package using the following PSU CLI command: a. On Solaris: NMSROOT/bin/PSUCli.sh -p dfm -u FaultManagementDevcieUpdates b. On Windows: NMSROOT\bin\PSUCli -p dfm -u FaultManagementDeviceUpdates Known Issues: =========== CSCue68142- For Edison device status is not showing for Power Supply component in DDV page. CSCuf64651- For Wave device device type is showing as Known in Fault Monitor page.
