Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone Model 7925G - Firmware Version 1.3(1)

The firmware image within the installation program is named CP7925G-1.3.1.LOADS and supports the Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP) for the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7925G.

This firmware version is supported on Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) Release 4.1 and later, and Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express (CUCME) Release 4.1 and later.

Before installing the firmware, use Table 1 below to verify that your Cisco Unified Communications Manager supports the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7925G.  If your Cisco Unified Communications Manager does not support the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7925G, you will need to upgrade to a Cisco Unified Communications Manager release that supports the phone and/or install a device pack that will add the support for the phone.

Installation Instructions     

1.     Click on the following URL: http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/ip-7900ser-crypto.

2.     Enter 7925 in the Find Device box and click the Go button.

3.     Click the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7925G highlighted link.

4.     Click the Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP) Software link.

5.     Click Expand all to view all available software versions.

6.     Select and click on the current software version.

7.     Download to your hard drive the proper Cisco 7925 firmware installer for your Cisco Unified Communications Manager version as shown in Table 2.

Please note that different versions of the Cisco 7925 firmware installer are needed for different Cisco Unified Communications Manager releases.

8.     Install the firmware according to your Cisco Unified Communications Manager release.

            Cisco Unified Communications Manager (formerly Cisco Unified CallManager) Version 5.1 and later

            1.  Using your web browser, login to the Cisco Unified OS Administration web page.
            2.  Under the Software Upgrades menu, select Install/Upgrade.
            3.  Fill in the appropriate values in the Software Location section for the file you downloaded above, and click Next.

            4.  In the Available Software drop-down box, select the file you downloaded above, and click Next.

                 Note:  In CUCM 6.0 and later, the drop-down box is referred to as Options/Upgrades.
            5.  After validating the MD5 hash value is correct, click Next.
            6.  (CUCM 5.1)  In the Warning box, verify you have selected the correct file, then click Install.
            7.  Verify the installation message is “Success” (CUCM 5.1) or installation status is “Complete” (CUCM 6.0 and later).

            8.  To install another file, click New Install (CUCM 5.1) or Install Another (CUCM 6.0 and later) and repeat steps 3 - 7.

            9.  Restart the TFTP server
                     a.  From the Navigation drop-down menu, select Cisco Unified CallManager Serviceability (CUCM 5.1)

                          or Cisco Unified Serviceability (CUCM 6.0 and later) and click Go.

                     b.  Under the Tools menu, select Control Center - Feature Services.
                     c.  In the Server drop-down box, select the server where the firmware was installed.
                     d.  Click the Cisco Tftp service radio button.

                     e.  Click the Restart button or icon.
            10.  Reset the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7925G to upgrade the firmware.
                     a.  From the Navigation drop-down menu, select Cisco Unified CallManager Administration (CUCM 5.1)

                          or Cisco Unified CM Administration (CUCM 6.0 and later) and click Go.

                     b.  Under Device menu, select Phone.
                     c.  Click Find to list all the devices.
                     d.  Select the Cisco 7925 wireless IP phones to reset, then click Reset Selected button or icon.
                     e.  In the Device Reset pop-up window, click Reset.

          Cisco Unified CallManager Version 4.1, 4.2, 4.3

          1.  Copy the Cisco 7925 firmware installer file to the TFTP server.
          2.  Double-click on the file to begin installation on the TFTP server.
          3.  At the InstallShield Wizard Welcome screen, click Next.
          4.  At the License Agreement screen, click Yes.
          5.  If prompted to overwrite any files, click Yes.
          6.  After the installation is completed, click OK.
          7.  Reset the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7925G to upgrade the firmware.
               a.  Using your web browser, login to the Cisco Unified CallManager Administration web page.
               b.  Under the Device menu, select Phone.
               c.  Click Find to list all the devices.
               d.  Select the Cisco 7925G wireless IP phones to reset, then click Reset Selected.
               e.  In the Reset Device pop-up window, click Reset.

          Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express Version 4.1 and later

          1.  Extract files from the TAR image, manually copy them to TFTP server (router flash), and enable them for TFTP.
          2.  For the 7925G device type, set the load type to CP7925G-1.3.1.LOADS.
          3.  Reset the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7925G to upgrade the firmware.

Verifying the Firmware Load

You may verify the installation of the firmware as follows:

          Cisco Unified Communications Manager (formerly Cisco Unified CallManager) Version 5.1 and later

          1.  Using your web browser, login to the Cisco Unified CM Administration web page.
          2.  Under the Device menu, select Device Settings > Device Defaults.
          3.  Verify the new firmware image name is listed in the Load Information field for the Cisco 7925 SCCP wireless IP phone.

          Cisco Unified CallManager Version 4.1, 4.2, 4.3

          1.  Using your web browser, login to the Cisco Unified CallManager Administration web page.
          2.  Under the System menu, select Device Defaults.
          3.  Verify the new firmware image name is listed in the Load Information field for the Cisco 7925 SCCP wireless IP phone.

          Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express Version 4.1 and later

          1.  Use the show flash: command to learn the filenames associated with the Cisco 7925 SCCP wireless IP phone firmware.
          2.  Use the show ephone phone-load command to verify the Cisco 7925 SCCP wireless IP phone firmware that is installed on a particular ephone.

Upgrading Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7925G Without a Cisco Unified CallManager

The Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7925G firmware can be upgraded without a Cisco Unified CallManager,
using a USB connection or WLAN.  Follow the instructions below to upgrade your phone firmware using a USB
or WLAN connection.

 

  1. Click on the following URL: http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/ip-7900ser-crypto.
  2. Enter 7925 in the Find Device box and click the Go button.
  3. Click the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7925G highlighted link.
  4. Click the IP Phone Tools and Utilities link.
  5. Click Expand all to view all the available software versions.
  6. Click the 1.0(2) version.
  7. Click on the file USB-Install-7921-7925.1-0-2.exe.
  8. In the “Release Information” row, click the Readme link to download the installation instruction

      and follow it to install the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7925G USB driver.

  1. Download CP7925G-1.3.1.TAR to your hard drive.
  2. Open a browser and enter the following URL, where IP_address is the IP address of the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7925G:
    https://<IP_address>
  3. Log in to the web pages with username: admin and enter the password: Cisco.
  4. Click the Phone Upgrade hyperlink under SYSTEM options.
  5. Enter the TAR file name or use Browse button to locate the TAR file you had downloaded.
  6. Click Upload.

    It may take several minutes to upload the firmware to the phone. When the upload has completed,
    the message "Uploaded image successfully. Rebooting phone." is displayed.

Installing Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7925G Configuration Utility Software Package using Wavelink Avalanche Server Console

  7. Download 7925CU-1.3.1.AVA file to a host that is accessible to the Avalanche Console.
  8. Launch the Avalanche Console and connect to an Avalanche agent.
  9. Uninstall any previously installed versions of the Cisco 7925 AVA packages.
  10. Select Software Management > Installing Software Package from the menu.
  11. Enter the path for the AVA file.
  12. Click on New and enter the AVA file name.
  13. Follow the instructions to complete the installation process.

            NOTE:  The content of the 7925CU-1.3.1.AVA package is compatible with both Cisco 7921 and Cisco 7925 wireless IP phones.
