Patch File name: ciscocm.cer_vm_tools.cop.sgn ------------------------------------------------------------ WHAT THIS PATCH DOES -------------------- This COP file provide support for the VMTools 10 upgrade This COP file updates vos_init.pp, vos_base.pp, vos_common.pp vos_cli.pp and cer_common.pp file after taking a backup of it. With this COP file installed we can discover that Install/Upgrade VMware tools is running and working fine. NOTE: ----- a) This patch must be applied separately on BOTH the Publisher & Subscriber CER servers. b) This patch is applicable for cer 10.5 and cer 11.0. c) The CER box has to be rebooted for the changes to take effect. WHEN TO APPLY THIS COP FILE -------------------------------------------------- The customer / administrator is advised to apply this COP file during off-peak hours (or non-business hours). Reason: Rebooting the CER box will take some amount of time. During this time period, the calls may get impacted. Note:- The status of the VMware tools should be in Not Running(Out of date) before installing the COP file. VMware tools should not be installed/upgraded before the COP file is installed. STEPS TO FOLLOW ------------------------------------------------ a) Fresh Install or Upgrade the CER box to versions 10.5 or 11.0. b) Check the VMware tools status to be Not Running(Out of Update)/ Not Running(Current). c) Install the COP file (please refer the section "HOW TO APPLY THE COP FILE") d) Enable the checkbox 'Check and Upgrade tools during power Cycling' under Inventory -> Virtual Machine -> EditSettings -> Options -> Vmware tools. e) Reboot the CER box. f) The status of VMware tools changes to Running(Current) g) If not, Go to VM ---> Install/Upgrade VMware tools and run it. h) The status of VMware tools changes to Running(Current) HOW TO APPLY THIS PATCH ----------------------- Option 1: Using CLI (Command Line Interface) -------------------------------------------- Use the 'utils system upgrade list / get' or 'utils system upgrade initiate' commands, to initiate the upgrade process to install the COP file. Once the upgrade completes, user control will be returned on the CLI terminal. Use the 'show version active' command, to check for the installation of the COP file on the system. Option 2: Using Cisco Unified OS Administration ----------------------------------------------- a) Login to "Cisco Unified OS Administration" website on the CER system. b) Go to "Software Upgrades -> Install/Upgrade". c) Enter the required details (Remote/Local) to access the COP file, and click Next. On the following page, select the COP file and proceed. The system will download the COP file & display the MD5 checksum, for your validation. d) Proceed to install the COP file; once the COP file is installed, the screen will show the status as "Complete" Go to Show -> Software, and look for an entry in the table showing the COP file name.
