Page Layout Options in Documentum

Improved flexibility is built into the framework that allows for publishing pages in the following configurations:

Note: Data driven pages (using CMT publishing system) and applications (CAMP) do not have the above page laout options/templates but standard page layout.

Standard

This layout option will include all page areas including header, section & page title, HiNav, center content, right column and footer. The majority of Cisco.com pages will be using layout option.

No Right Column Option in Standard Layout

Right column can/will be collapsed in this layout option if no content is inserted in that column. We strongly advise that you use this feature with care and only when your content requires wider page width. Here are some use cases that would demand a page with no right column:

  • Product comparison tables or product code
  • Wide tables can now be displayed taking advantage of the collapsed right column feature
  • Large graphic introducing a concept (make sure you work with a visual designer on such images)
  • Listing pages where there are two columns of links; in this case, more page width helps links not to wrap as much

Pop-up

Use this layout option in the following use cases:

  • Users are completing a parallel task and need to have both windows open at the same time; in this scenario, the pop-up is used as "temporary focus".
  • The pop-up is a step in the workflow and will be closed as the task is completed.

Standard without HiNav

This layout option is used in very rare cases where there is no need for the page to have access to the hierachy of the information via HiNav. Using this layout option needs approval from the Cisco.com UE team.

Standard without HiNav, Page or Section Title

Offering additional flexibility for different types of content, the page can be formatted to omit HiNav, section or page title as well as the right column by not inserting any content in that column. This creates the most free space and can be used for certain types of promotions or events, for example.

Using this layout option needs approval from the Cisco.com UE team.

Blank Page

Blank page template is reserved for use by web marketing for presentations including flash.

Using this layout option needs approval from the Cisco.com UE team.
