Notes on table accessibility

The details of making your tables meet accessibility requirements vary with the layout of your table.

If your table either does not use an "Optional Primary Header" as pictured in the examples below,
OR if your header reaches across the entire table

Use scope="col" in the header th cells across the top. If the first column of cells going down the left side are also serving as headers, use scope="row" with those.

If you use more than one "Optional Primary Header" on the table, as in the first example below

You will need to use id and header attributes throughout the table.
