Announcing New Security Specialist Certifications
Cisco announces three new Cisco Security Specialists certifications – Cisco Firewall Security Specialist, Cisco IOS Security Specialist and Cisco VPN Security Specialist. These specializations are intended for network security engineers who specialize in network security infrastructure technologies and products. These new certifications in combination with the existing Security Specialist certifications offer a convenient validation of skills and competency for network security solutions.
Cisco Firewall Security Specialist certification validates skills and knowledge in implementing perimeter security solutions using Cisco security appliances. These certified specialists are actively involved in developing secure business solutions and designing and delivering multiple levels of secure access to the network. The following exams are required for certification:
Cisco IOS Security Specialist certification validates the hands-on knowledge and skills required to secure networks using Cisco IOS Software security features embedded in the latest Cisco routers and switches as well as the widely deployed Cisco security appliances. Cisco IOS Software security specialists are able to secure the network environment and provide security services based on Cisco IOS Software such as—zone-based policy firewall; Cisco IOS Software IPS; user-based firewall; secure tunnels using IPsec VPN technology including PKI, VTI/DVTI, GETVPN, and DMVPN; 802.1x authentication and advanced switch security features. The following exam is required for certification:
Cisco VPN Security Specialist certification validates the skills and knowledge to configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and support various VPN solutions, using Cisco IOS Software and the robust Cisco ASA adaptive security appliance. Cisco VPN solutions are widely deployed in many networks today. Many enterprises and service providers deploy these numerous VPN solutions at any given time for their various customers and organizations—from simple point-to-point tunneling to multilayer dynamic high-availability VPNs. The following exams are required for certification:

The concept of BGP multi-homing refers to the ability to connect a network to more than one Internet service provider, thereby providing Internet redundancy and routing optimization. This session will give an overview of BGP multi-homing, various types of multi-homing with their advantages, and how to configure BGP in multi-homing setups. In addition, it will cover troubleshooting typical issues in BGP and some best practices.
