Cisco SNMP Object Navigator - SPOTLIGHT:
Locate and Utilize MIB Information

The Cisco SNMP Object Navigator is an online tool that helps you find and download Management Information Base (MIB) information.

You can use Cisco SNMP Object Navigator to:

• Translate/Browse -- Translate an object ID into an object name, translate an object name into an object ID, or browse the object tree.



• Search -- Search object names and descriptions to receive a list of objects and MIBs that match your query.



• View & Download MIBs -- View MIB dependencies and download MIBs, or view formatted MIB contents. This enhanced search allows you to select a MIB quickly by entering the MIB name or selecting from a list.



• MIB Support in Software -- Find MIBs by Cisco IOS image name. You can find all MIBs supported in an IOS version.

The Translate/Browse page displays the OID tree by default. In addition, you can view object details by rolling your mouse over objects in the OID tree.

CCIE Central - UPDATE:
New Certification in Storage Networking

Beginning November 18, 2004, the CCIE program will offer written exams for expert-level certification in Storage Networking. The CCIE program currently certifies experts in Routing & Switching, Security, Service Provider, and Voice. The new CCIE Storage Networking certification will identify experts in implementing and supporting intelligent storage networks.

A CCIE in Storage Networking will require passing both a written exam and a hands-on lab exam demonstrating real-world expertise with devices such as multilayer fabric switches, SAN switches and directors, routers, and storage management solutions.

A beta version of the CCIE Storage Networking written exam will be available from November 18 through December 16 at worldwide Cisco-authorized testing facilities for a reduced cost of US$50. Online scheduling opens on November 18. Candidates may schedule and take the exam only once during the beta test period. Individual scores on beta exams are available six to eight weeks after the close of the beta period. The general releases of both the CCIE Storage Networking written and lab exams are expected to be available in the first quarter of calendar year 2005. The lab exam will be available at Cisco offices in San Jose, California; Research Triangle Park, North Carolina; and Brussels, Belgium.
