Cisco TAC Case Collection Tool - UPDATE:
Support for Frame Relay Now Available
The interactive Cisco TAC Case Collection tool helps you quickly find solutions to common issues with Cisco products and technologies, based on symptoms you describe. Using information from recent TAC cases, Cisco TAC engineers
recently added a Frame Relay technology section, or "knowledge base," to this tool.
The diagnostic information in this new knowledge base covers common Frame Relay configuration procedures, addresses Frame Relay issues on all router platforms, and provides detailed explanations of the most important "show" commands and error messages. Specific topics include:
- Connectivity, packet loss, and latency issues over permanent virtual circuits (PVCs) and switched virtual circuits (SVCs)
- Performance issues such as data link connection identifier (DLCI) limitation and high CPU utilization
- Fundamental features such as dial backup, Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) over Frame Relay, and various types of compression and quality of service (QoS) features, including queuing, marking, policing, Frame Relay Traffic Shaping (FRTS), Generic Traffic Shaping (GTS), and Distributed Traffic Shaping (DTS)
The TAC Case Collection also supports dial (access), LAN switching, network security, wireless, and voice technologies. We plan to publish more knowledge bases in the coming months, so stay tuned for updates.
Try out the TAC Case Collection's new Frame Relay content, or any of the other knowledge bases:

(available to registered users only)
Note: Due to the dynamic nature of the content in the Cisco TAC Case Collection, you should access the tool with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5, Netscape 6.0, or higher.

CCIE Certification Exams - UPDATE:
New Equipment Eligibility and Updates to the C&S Track
The CCIE program plans to add new equipment to all lab exams,
and has released two written exams for the Communications and
Services (C&S) track.
Here's a summary of the changes:
- Cisco 3725 Router Becomes Eligible -- On September 1, the Cisco 3725 modular router and Cisco IOS Version 12.2 software will become eligible for testing on lab exams in all CCIE tracks.
- New C&S Written Exams -- To earn C&S certification, you must first
pass a written exam in your choice of a service specialization, and
then pass a hands-on lab exam that focuses on core IP technologies
and products. Half of each written exam covers the selected
specialization, with the remaining half devoted to basic IP routing
and switching issues. In addition to Optical, DSL, Cable, and WAN
Switching, the CCIE C&S track has added two new written exam options:
- C&S IP Telephony Exam (#350-024) -- This written exam is now available worldwide through Pearson VUE and Thomson/Prometric testing centers. The exam identifies IP experts in a service-provider environment with a high level of VoIP literacy.
- C&S Dial Exam (#351-025) -- The CCIE program is running a Beta test on this exam, which covers the technologies and products that service providers use to deliver services via dial-up connections. We expect the final version of the exam to be available for general release sometime in October.
Visit the CCIE home page for more information on these changes and on the CCIE program in general:
