Cisco Output Interpreter Tool - UPDATE:
Catalyst® Reload Troubleshooting, Error Message Decoder Functionality

To help you troubleshoot Cisco devices more quickly, the Cisco Output Interpreter tool provides an instant, online analysis of the output of over 100 "show" commands. The tool recently added two new features: troubleshooting support for reloads on Catalyst switches, and the same error message analysis as the Cisco Error Message Decoder tool provides.

  • Use the Output Interpreter to troubleshoot reloads on Catalyst 6500/6000 Series, Catalyst 5500/5000 Series, Catalyst 4500/4000 Series switches, and certain Catalyst 2900 models. Just paste the output from the "show tech-support" command into the tool from a device running Catalyst OS, Cisco IOS, or Integrated IOS®. For a Catalyst 4500/4000 running Catalyst OS, also paste in the output from the "show crashdump 1" command. This will identify the most probable bugs and will show the relevant OS version where these bugs have been fixed.

  • To decode error messages, paste your one- or two-line console error message into the Output Interpreter. Your instant online analysis will include an explanation of the message, any recommended actions, and a list of related support resources. The Output Interpreter can decode error messages from devices running Cisco IOS and Cisco Catalyst OS.

Visit the Output Interpreter today to check out this new functionality:

Cisco SNMP Object Navigator Tool - UPDATE:
New Tabular Interface Streamlines MIB Management

The Cisco SNMP Object Navigator tool helps you find and download Management Information Base (MIB) information. The tool's new tabular interface now makes it easier than ever to get the MIB information you need.

The tool provides four main functions, one per tab:

  1. Translate/Browse -- translate an object ID into an object name, translate an object name into an object ID, or browse the object tree.

  2. Search - search object names and descriptions to receive a list of objects and MIBs that match your query.

  3. View & Download MIBs -- view MIB dependencies and download MIBs, or view formatted MIB contents. This enhanced search allows you to select a MIB quickly by entering the MIB name or selecting from a list.

  4. MIB Support in Software -- find MIBs by Cisco IOS image name. You can find all MIBs supported in an IOS version, find all IOS versions that support a given MIB, or find MIBs in non-IOS Cisco products.

In addition, the SNMP Object Navigator is now available to all users, registered or non-registered, so you don't need a service contract to use the tool.

Try out the enhanced SNMP Object Navigator today:

IP Telephony Readiness Assessment Tool - UPDATE:
Tool Refreshed With Up-To-Date Technical Content

Recent updates to the Cisco IP Telephony Services "Steps to Success" page include a comprehensive technical refresh of the Cisco IP Telephony Readiness Assessment tool. This tool helps you determine whether you have met the network design requirements for a high-availability Cisco IP telephony implementation, and whether your planned IP telephony implementation meets identified design and configuration criteria.

If you don't know the answers to all the questions, you can complete the IP Telephony Readiness Assessment with the help of a Cisco partner or Cisco customer sales engineer. Your customized assessment will provide visual pointers to key areas that might require further evaluation, with an option to generate a more detailed, printable report. Service providers can use this as a pre-sales tool for free, high-level assessments of their customers' readiness.

Go to the Cisco IP Telephony Services "Steps to Success" page to access the IP Telephony Readiness Assessment and a variety of other resources for planning and deploying IP communication services:
