What's Hot

Cisco TAC Web Site - UPDATE:
Upcoming Interface Changes Streamline Navigation

We are planning a redesign of the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) Web Site to help you find the online technical support you need more quickly. With simplified navigation, the new interface will give you faster access to all the tools and documents you use today.

As part of an overall plan to unify the entire Cisco Web site, this redesign will let you use the same navigation techniques on every Cisco Web page. Navigation bars and links on individual pages will help you keep track of your location and hop to other pages with a single click.

This change will take place sometime in the next few months. In the meantime, you can get a sneak preview of the new look and feel at the Networking Professionals Connection, a site which has implemented some elements of the new interface:

Cisco TAC Web Site Search - UPDATE:
Search the Cisco TAC Web Site for Online Technical Support Information

Have you ever searched for online technical support from Cisco Connection Online, only to receive results cluttered with news, training, or pre-sales information? When you need technical support, start instead with the "Search" field on the Cisco TAC Web Site.

The Cisco TAC Web Site's "Search" field works like a Google.com search, and you can restrict your query to search only technical support documents. Your results will include Top Issues, Technical Tips, Sample Configurations, Field Notices, Security Advisories, and Q&A's -- the same documents that Cisco TAC engineers write and use -- so you can pinpoint the information you need fast.

Start with the Cisco TAC Web Site "Search" field next time you need to find technical support information:

Cisco Wireless Troubleshooting Center - NEW:
Virtual Engineer Provides 24-Hour Support for Cisco Aironet® Wireless LAN Products

The new Cisco Wireless Troubleshooting Center allows you to have an online conversation with a virtual engineer named TIM. TIM, our Technical Information Manager, can help answer questions about Cisco Aironet Wireless LAN products concerning:

  • Installation
  • Connectivity
  • Network security
  • Product upgrades and features

To begin a virtual chat with TIM, simply enter your name and then type in your question or problem. The tool will prompt you for more information until TIM has enough data to provide a solution.

Visit the Cisco Wireless Troubleshooting Center today for answers to your Cisco Aironet questions:

Cisco Field Notice Alert Tool - ENHANCED:
Updated "Products" Menu Simplifies Subscription

The Cisco Field Notice Alert tool lets you sign up to receive updates about reliability, safety, or network security issues related to Cisco products, and the tool now offers an expanded and alphabetized "Products" menu. With this update, you can receive notifications for most Cisco products, and the process of subscribing will go more quickly than ever.

Sign up for the alerts you need with the Cisco Field Notice Alert tool:

Cisco Open Forum End of Life - UPDATE:
Networking Professionals Connection Replaces Open Forum

The Cisco TAC has disabled the Cisco Open Forum tool and moved Open Forum's most current Q&A pairs to our newest online community, the Networking Professionals Connection. Networking Professionals Connection gives you an online venue for sharing questions, suggestions, and information about Cisco products and technologies with your peers.

Networking Professionals Connection includes an interactive Q&A environment similar to Open Forum's, as well as additional features such as:

  • An open community of more than 400,000 networking professionals, with discussion forums organized by technology
  • "Ask the Expert" events, where you can discuss specific networking issues with Cisco experts over a scheduled two-week period
  • "TechTalks," where Cisco experts offer Web-based technical presentations and discussions

For details on current offerings at the Networking Professionals Connection, see the "Online Technical Training Opportunities" section of this newsletter (below), or explore the Networking Professionals Connection at:
