RECENT FIELD NOTICES
Title: Cisco 6100 Platform Release 2.3.1 Improves Data Throughput
URL: http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/770/fn5448_06161999.shtml
(available to guest and registered users)
Summary: The Cisco 6100 trained downstream rate is less than earlier releases

Title: Cisco IOS Software Established Access List Keyword Error
URL: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/770/iosgsracl-pub.shtml
(available to guest and registered users)
Summary: Cisco 12000 series Gigabit Switch Routers (GSRs) running certain
versions of Cisco IOS software forward unauthorized traffic because of
an error encountered while processing the established keyword in an access-list
statement. The resulting vulnerability could be exploited to circumvent
a site's security policy. Only Cisco Gigabit Switch Routers (currently
the 12008 and 12012 GSRs) running Cisco IOS software Release 11.2(14)GS2
through 11.2(15)GS3 are vulnerable. This error is corrected in Release
11.2(15)GS5 and later versions. This error is not present in any version
of Cisco IOS software Release 12.0S and later. Non-GSR releases are not
affected. The bug ID associated with this error is CSCdm36197.
Title: Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1(26)CC Deferral - FDDI Input Stuck
URL: http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/770/fn5168_06091999.shtml
(available to registered users)
Summary: Two Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) symptoms exist. The
FDDI product may experience stuck input when Hot Standby Router Protocol
(HSRP) is configured. If a FDDI product is not configured with any routing
protocol, a FDDI port may reset after a certain period of time.
Title: Cell Loss Between DS3/T1 and OC-3 on the Same SCAM
URL: http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/770/fn4948_06081999.shtml
(available to registered users)
Summary: Customers may experience cell loss between lower-speed Port Adapter
Modules (PAMs). Small packets have partial success, but cell loss increases
as packet size increases and is total at about 1000 bytes. PAMs of less
than OC-3 rates experience cell drops on transfers within the same Super
CAM (SCAM) on Catalyst 8540MSR platforms. There is a problem with how
the Field Programmable Gateway Array (FPGA) image on the SCAM handles
backpressure.
Title: RTP over PPP Is Not Backward-Compatible
URL: http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/770/fn5368_06021999.shtml
(available to registered users)
Summary: All products running Cisco IOS Real-Time Protocol (RTP) over
Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) are affected by this field notice. Cisco's
implementation of RTP over PPP has been modified to follow the Internet
Engineering Task Force (IETF) standard. The result is that the new implementation
of RTP over PPP is not completely compatible with Cisco's existing implementation
of the feature.
Title: TN3270 Server LUs Using LU Nailing is not Working Fully with Cisco
IOS 11.2BC
URL: http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/770/fn5348_06081999.shtml
(available to registered users)
Summary: TN3270 server LUs using LU nailing is not working. If a client
IP address is nailed to an LU or range of Lus, then it cannot connect
to the host. This problem is independent of whether or not an LU name
is supplied. This problem first appeared in Cisco IOS Release 11.2(18)BC
with associated CIP microcode 24-11. The problem still exists in CIP microcode
24-12.
Title: Physically Reseat NPM After Upgrading NPM Bootcode
URL: http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/770/fn5028_06021999.html
(available to registered users)
Summary: Network Processor Module (NPM) bootcode does not load properly
until the NPM is physically powered down and then powered back up. The
power cycle may be accomplished by either reseating the NPM or turning
the IGX(tm)-8400 node off and then back on.

Title: OSPF and EIGRP Neighbor Loss After Upgrading to Cisco IOS 11.2
URL: http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/104/6.shtml
(available to registered users)
Summary: This technical tip explains an issue with OSPF and EIGRP when
upgrading from Cisco IOS 10.3 to 11.2 or later for Year 2000 compliance.
Many customers are still running Cisco IOS 10.3 in their EIGRP and OSPF
network environments. After upgrading to IOS 11.2 in order to be Year
2000 compliant, they notice intermittent losses of OSPF and EIGRP. This
happens because the broadcasts are handled by a separate queue in Frame
Relay called the Frame Relay broadcast queue. Thus, OSPF and EIGRP hellos
drop in the broadcast queue, which causes the neighbor loss.
