Warranty Support IBM Global Services is a Cisco Authorized Warranty and Post-Warranty Provider for MDS 9000 products purchased from IBM and IBM Business Partners. IBM Global Services provides 24x7x365 warranty and post-warranty support for the entire MDS 9000 product family in most geographies world-wide.  Cisco Systems provides MDS 9000 technical assistance and parts replacement support to IBM Global Services to assist in the delivery of high quality customer support.

Post-Warranty Support

Support beyond the standard one-year enhanced warranty can be purchased as warranty extensions (maintenance), available in 1-year and 2-year increments.

Entitlement Information
When contacting IBM for support, please have the following information available for your hardware:

  • Machine Type# 2062 for all Cisco Storage Products (except as otherwise identified)
    or 2061 for the Port Analyzer Adapter and 9120 and 9140 Cisco Storage Products
  • Serial Number (For 2062, use IBM seven digit #, i.e. 13-XXXXX. For 2061, use Cisco eleven digit #, i.e. JABYYYYXXXX.)
  • Model number
  • Contact name
  • Contact telephone number
  • Address of hardware location

Any changes, moves, or updates to your product location may impact the ability to obtain the 24x7x4 Onsite support. In order to ensure enhanced service, please notify your warranty provider of any changes to your product location at least 30 days in advance.

Software Updates
Software downloads for the Cisco MDS 9000 product family are available by logging in at the Software Center Storage Networking site.

Login access to the Cisco.com Software Center will be provided by your Authorized Warranty and Post-Warranty Provider.

If you are downloading the Cisco MDS 9000 Product Family software for the first time, you may need to submit a request form to be able to download the 'Cryptographic Software under Export Licensing Controls'. Your user profile must be up to date to complete the process. Once the application process is complete, the Cisco MDS 9000 software may be downloaded.

How do I locate my serial number on my chassis or line card?

Answer: The chassis serial number on a Cisco MDS 9000 Series Multilayer switch is used to identify the unit for warranty support. It can be manually read by checking the sticker in back of the unit next to the power supply or obtained remotely.
