Welcome

Dear Valued Customer,

We look forward to welcoming you to the annual Cisco Packet Optical Networking Conference, which will be hosted at the Grand Hotel Dino in Baveno and the Cisco Optical R&D facility in Monza, Italy.

Baveno is very conveniently located on Lake Maggiore, just 30 minutes from Malpensa (MXP) Airport and about one hour from Milan.

A Welcome Cocktail gathering will open the event on Tuesday evening November 13 at the Grand Hotel Dino, where the main event for the first day will be held on Wednesday November 14.

A bus transfer will be organized for the morning of the second day, Thursday November 15, so that you can attend the workshops, technology discussions, and demonstrations with industry experts in our Optical R&D facility in Monza.

The conference will provide deep insights into Cisco® Packet Optical Networking innovations and the associated business and architectural benefits. Topics will include:

Learn how Cisco removes boundaries between layers to optimize the efficiency and reliability of next-generation networks. IP plus optical convergence enables multiterabit routing, network consolidation, multilayer control plane, and next-generation operational support. See how Cisco is instrumenting the optical network to support any rate to any reach service definition. Maximize the unregenerate length, as well as spectral efficiency using a common set of tools and removing boundaries in the definition of optical transport networks. See how Cisco investments in 100Gbps coherent and interconnect technologies come together to provide the next level of consolidation, and to support the evolution toward next-generation transmission to 400Gbps and above.

We have structured the conference to optimize interaction and stimulate discussions. The conference will focus on both where the industry and technology are today, and how we see them evolving in the future.

Over the course of the two days, a mix of the following will be available for you:

Presentations for business-oriented and technical decision makers focusing on the future of Internet Protocol/Multiprotocol Label Switching (IP/MPLS) services, business trends in the industry arena, and IP plus optical architectures, enabling the transition from legacy networks to next-generation networks. Updates on the latest developments in convergent transport technology delivered by recognized experts. Live demonstrations of leading and future convergent IP plus optical solutions, including unprecedented 100Gbps ultra-long haul, Wavelength Switched Optical Network / Generalized MPLS, optical restoration and multi-layer control plane, next-generation data encryption, and more. Industry roundtable discussion on network evolution with leading service providers, large enterprises and analysts.

At the end of this two-day event, you will have a greater understanding of architectures and technologies relevant to your business and an appreciation of what a Cisco partnership can bring to your converged network.
