ENSET Mohammedia academy in Morocco is participating in a project to help prepare women for career opportunities in ICT.
The Power of Collaboration
Cisco Networking Academy collaborates with many government agencies and nonprofit organizations to help extend the benefits of the program to students throughout the world. Two of our most enduring partnerships are with the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Cisco has collaborated with UNIFEM and USAID to launch many initiatives, including the E-Parite project in Morocco in 2004. E-Parite is designed to promote the participation of women in the information and communication technology (ICT) industry by encouraging them to develop valuable skills for career advancement.
E-Parite in Action
A local academy in Morocco that has successfully participated in E-Parite is ENSET Mohammedia. In addition to gaining networking skills through hands-on activities, Networking Academy students at ENSET also receive soft skills training as they prepare to enter the workforce.
Mr. Rebbani, who teaches at ENSET, values the educational opportunities offered by Networking Academy and E-Parite. “Cisco technologies are much in demand in the market and the number of people mastering these technologies is very limited in Morocco,” he says. “In addition, the soft skills workshops offered to our students as part of the E-Parite program are very beneficial. Now, for the first time, our Networking Academy students are being trained on presentation, interviewing and communication skills.”
One of the graduates who participated in the E-Parite project at ENSET is Saïda Aït Mamma, who successfully completed her Cisco CCNA studies in 2006. As a result, Aït Mamma found a great job as a technical assistant at Pericles, an ICT company in Morocco. She looks forward to a rewarding career in an industry that has typically been dominated by men. “My Cisco training has been a big plus for finding a job,” says Aït Mamma. “I won’t forget all the things I have learned thanks to this project, from the Cisco training to the soft skills workshop.”
