Creating Your Own Stickers

It's great fun to use the graphics provided in the Characters Library to make your own stickers. Here are two ideas for you:

  1. Open a Word Processing or Desktop Publishing document and insert a character or characters into a document. Arrange the character or characters in your document as you wish. If you are planning to print on sticker paper that is already formatted into a page of stickers, make sure your arrangement will work with the size stickers you've selected. When you are satisfied with your arrangement of graphics in the document, print first on plain paper to make sure it is what you want. Then print on a sheet of sticker paper. If you are using plain sticker paper (an 8.5"* 11" sheet that has not been formatted), after your stickers print, they'll need to be cut out.
  2. Use a template to print your stickers. In this section of Packetville, you'll find both Microsoft Word® and Adobe PDF templates to use for your stickers. Make sure you check all the information below (Important Notes about Printing) BEFORE you print your stickers.
Important Notes About Printing

Select the type of paper for the printer you are planning to use. If you don't, you may find that your colors bleed into each other and ruin your graphics. Do not use adhesive paper designed for ink jet printers in laser printers and vice versa.

    Using the PDF Templates

The PDF templates in this section will work well with plain sticker paper that is available in many office supply stores. You may also want to try printing with sticker paper that is formatted to create small (1.5" diameter) round stickers. Many stores don't carry this type of formatted paper, so you may have to order it online.

Be warned, however, that although the pdf provided will work with some paper and printers, how your pages come out will depend upon your paper and printer.

Formatted paper usually comes with a paper template that you should duplicate (so you'll have it available when needed) and use before you try printing on sticker paper. It's wise to print on the paper template first because you don't want to ruin a sheet of your sticker paper.

    Using the Word Templates

The Word templates in this section of Packetville will work well with plain sticker paper that is available in many office supply stores.

If you are planning to use already formatted sticker paper such as 1.5" diameter round stickers, you'll need to make sure the characters on the template are positioned correctly for your paper. Try printing the Word templates on regular paper first to see if they will work. If not, open the Word template you want to use and reposition the characters to fit your paper.

Although several sizes of the Peter and Penny Packet characters are provided for you, if you need to resize any of the characters, you can do so using a photo-editing program such as Adobe's PhotoShop Elements®.
