Finding Homes for Your Animals

Finding Homes for Animals

Put your computer skills to work to help find homes for animals in your community. Think about visiting your local animal shelter or Humane Society for a digital photo session. The animals will appreciate the attention, and you'll have a chance to get to know them well enough to write descriptions that encourage people to adopt them.

You can use your photos to create posters, make a Web page, post information on community service websites, create postcards featuring the animals, send pictures through email, show the pictures in live video Web chats, and create newsletters or design stickers. You can also come up with other ideas for advertising these special animals.

If you cannot visit your local animal shelter, see if it has a website. If so, send an email that explains who you are and how you would like to help. Ask the staff to send you some photos and information about the adoptable animals. Call the shelter if they do not have a website or email address.

If the shelter doesn't have a website, you and your friends might volunteer to help create some touching Web pages with stories and pictures of the animals.

Finding homes for the animals will be a rewarding experience for you, the animals, and their new owners.
