Cisco is Looking for Network Engineers

Cisco’s Intelligent Networking Solutions (INS) team is looking for entry-level, full-time individuals to support our Global Engineering Operations department in the area of voice, data, and video IP-based communication systems. The job openings are in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina and San Jose, California. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about ways in which emerging technologies are used to enhance communications.

Job responsibilities include troubleshooting, identifying, and implementing solutions for network-related issues, and providing operational oversight and input to support network design and architecture. Individuals will interface with various teams and clients to gather requirements and help sustain and improve operational excellence.

Skill requirements are as follows:

  • Highly motivated, organized, and works well under pressure
  • Very detail-oriented, with the ability to work seamlessly within a broader team to achieve desired results in a fast-paced environment
  • Can work under close supervision using general specifications or solutions
  • Demonstrates strong technical knowledge
  • Can learn, coordinate, and execute tasks on small- to medium-sized projects
  • Knowledgeable about various technical alternatives and network impact
  • Demonstrates good problem-solving abilities
  • Delivers projects in a timely manner

Technical requirements are as follows:

  • Working knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies
  • Basic knowledge of internetworking systems, architectures, and protocols
  • Completion of Cisco CCNA or CCNP courses (preferred)
  • Open to all majors and degrees (typically requires BS/CS or equivalent; MS or MBA a plus)
  • Up to two years of related technical experience
