The University of Brasília was founded in 1961, only four years after the Western state of Brasília was selected as the new home to Brazil’s capital. The University is now a center for academic activity, offering education to students from all over the country. More than 19,400 students enroll at the undergraduate level each year, while 2150 masters students and 829 doctoral students are enrolled in the graduate schools. The University has 1356 Professors within 35 departments. Course subjects include humanities, science, technology, medicine, and biology. The federal government has classified University of Brasília as one of the top five universities in Brazil.
To prepare for the ITU-Cisco Internet Training Center, the University of Brasília built a laboratory of workstations and networking equipment (see photo below). The ITC has two instructors, Robson de Oliveira Albuquerque and Enio Roboredo Sanches. Both have Bachelors of Science degrees and are CCNAP certified; they also have industry experience with networking.
