Cisco recognizes the diverse learning styles of students with disabilities and provides creative technology solutions to ensure the complete accessibility of the Cisco Networking Academy Program to all learners. Whether you are a person with disabilities or provide services to this population, Cisco shares successful strategies to some of these challenges. BackgroundSince 1973, when Congress passed the Rehabilitation Act, educational
organizations that receive federal funding have been required to
provide "reasonable accommodations". The Networking Academy
program provides specific accommodations for three types of disabilities:
learning disabilities, visual impairment, and hearing impairment. Cisco's CommitmentCisco supports Academies in their efforts to provide reasonable
accommodation by adapting curriculum to be used with assistive
technologies and through a partnership with the National Center
for Learning Disabilities to make curriculum more accessible and
increase awareness for instructors and students. Academies Making a Difference Cisco Networking Academies use traditional and creative strategies
to accommodate the special needs of students who want to achieve
digital equity in today's digital economy. |
