Candidate Steps for NetWork Success

Candidate Steps for NetWork Success

Congratulations on being invited to attend the upcoming NetWork Strategic Recruiting Event in your area. At this event, candidates will interview with Cisco channel partners, businesses that demonstrate high standards of quality in professional services related to Cisco products.

You will be notified at least three days prior to the event whether you have been selected to attend. Please review the contents on this page in preparation to leave a positive and lasting impression with potential employers.

We suggest you note any actions you'll need to take to prepare for this NetWork event.

Pay attention to deadlines

All of the NetWork deadlines will be communicated to you through e-mail. Please note these important dates because you may not be eligible to participate in this event if you miss an important deadline.

Polish your resume

Your resume provides an employer with a first impression of you, so you want it to be professional and free of errors. Many Websites offer advice on creating a resume, including the Cisco Networking Academy Alumni Connection. We also suggest you ask someone such as a friend or your Academy instructor to review your resume before you submit it.

Prepare for successful interviews

  • Visit the Career Connection Job Board for helpful career development resources. The Job Board is available to registered alumni. View a short presentation to learn how to register.
  • Show an interest in the interviewers and the companies they represent by asking questions about their business, the positions they have open, and anything else that may seem relevant.
  • Potential employers will want to know all about you. Be prepared to answer questions about your career goals and objectives as well as your technical expertise. It’s also a good idea to address other abilities that you offer such as communication skills, project management skills, and being a team player.
  • There is a difference between knowing what you want to say and being able to clearly articulate it during an interview. Ask an instructor or friend to help you improve your interviewing skills with a practice interview.

Arrive early

Each NetWork event begins at 9 a.m. Driving directions to the event are available on the NetWork event page. Allow yourself plenty of time to travel, park, and locate the appropriate room. We suggest arriving at least 30 minutes early.
