All Academy Day

Host Your Own All Academy Day

All Academy Day is a competition that gives students the chance to show off the skills they have learned in Cisco Networking Academy and explore career pathways by interacting with IT professionals. Teams of students participate in a series of hands-on events related to the IT Essentials and CCNA curricula

     

This Web site contains all the resources you need to host All Academy Day. We encourage you to get involved.

                       

Promoting IT Careers

All Academy Day is part of the Promoting IT Careers initiative, which helps young people explore the skills and education needed to succeed in information technology and also encourages the development of relationships between students and professionals.

Event Title
Description Related Curriculum
Cable Making
Teams compete to make patch, crossover, and rollover cables. Cables are judged for craftsmanship and must pass a wire map test.

All curricula

NEW: Component Identification
Teams identify and document computer components within the time allotted. Teams receive points for each component they correctly identify.

IT Essentials
(may be adapted for CCNA 1-4)

NEW: Computer Building
Teams build three computers from the materials provided and create two partitions on each of the hard drives. Scoring is based physical connections, power up, drives reading data, and partitioning the drives.

IT Essentials

NEW: Home Networking
Each team is employed by an ISP. They have been given a work order that directs them to install a Linksys home wireless router onto the cable modem connection and then to configure the security of the wireless network. Teams are judged on physical home connections, wireless connections, and wireless network security.

IT Essentials, CCNA Discovery 4.0: Networking for Home and Small Businesses, or CCNA Exploration 4.0: LAN Switching and Wireless

Quiz Bowl (trivia game)
Teams compete to answer questions on various IT topics. Points are awarded for each correct answer.

IT Essentials and CCNA

Router Configuration and Troubleshooting (ISP home hookup)
Teams will troubleshoot an ISP router and connect a home router into the WAN created between two Cisco routers.

CCNA 2-4

NEW: TAC/Professionalism
The teams, who work at a technical assistance call center, demonstrate their professionalism while helping their clients (the judges) resolve a technical issue.

 

In addition to technical skills, scoring is based on the following skills: speaking, phone, problem-solving, and, as a bonus, time-management.

IT Essentials
(may be adapted for all curricula)

NEW: Virtual Computer
Contestants, competing as individuals or in teams, assemble a virtual laptop or desktop. Points are awarded for each section of the computer that is completed correctly.
