Customers across the globe are continually benefitting from the fundamental benefits of desktop virtualization such as centralization of resources, separation of physical devices, operating systems, applications and data to provide a never degrading performance and support for BYOD and mobility needs of end users. In addition Desktop Virtualization solutions now continue to extend the use cases that can be addressed such as supporting graphical applications, cloud pod based architectures supporting seamless access to desktops hosted globally in multiple data centers and providing rapid turn key deployment of desktops to faster meet business requirements. With Horizon 6 and Cisco UCS based architectures, these advanced desktop virtualization use cases are now possible.
Date & Time: Monday October 13th, 11:45a.m. – 12:45p.m.
Maish Saidel-Keesing, Platform Architect, Cisco
Automation is an essential component of the Software Defined Datacenter, without an automation solution this is destined for failure. We want to automate it all, from the deployment of the hardware, the hypervisor, the operating systems, and the application. This session will go through a customer story inside Cisco where an automation solution was implemented using PowerUCS, PowerCLI, Razor and Puppet to ensure a successful deployment from end to end. The session is technical, will provide a detailed architecture and methodology used in this customer, and how the solution reduced the deployment time from a number of days to a matter of hours.
Date & Time: Tuesday October 14th, 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Balaji Sivasubramanian, Director Product Management, Cisco
Virtual Networking requirements have been evolving from being able to simply support virtual workloads similar to physical workload to be more agile private cloud deployment as well as extending to a public cloud. Providing ability to consistently apply application policy on any type of workload (physical/virtual) defines our approach to virtual networking. With this approach, enterprises will be able to simplify application deployment. This session will cover Cisco’s virtual networking solutions based on Nexus 1000V and Cisco UCS Director for VMware vSphere environments to deliver much needed agility to data center and cloud deployments by rapidly provisioning virtual networking and services in minutes to keep the virtual application workloads isolated.
Date & Time: Wednesday October 15th, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Vijay Parthasarathy, Product Management, Cisco
Audience: Technical / Mid-Level
Whether deploying integrated infrastructure solutions built around the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) and Cisco Nexus products, or using multivendor infrastructures and multi-hypervisors, Cisco UCS Director (UCSD) provides integrated infrastructure management and Automation for operational simplicity. Delivering management for administering computing, network, virtualization, and storage-as-a-system, from one self-service web interface, Cisco UCSD was designed to operationally integrate bare-metal and virtual data center infrastructure resources, addressing complex, manual, and compartmentalized management processes, to reduce total costs. We will focus on how Cisco UCSD automates Application Ready, IT integrated infrastructure management processes; abstracting the complexity of individual devices, hypervisors, and virtual machines.
Date & Time: Wednesday October 15th, 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
Joe Onisik, Principal Engineer INSBU , Cisco
Audience: Technical / Mid-Level
Modern data centers are a mix of hypervisors, and bare-metal workloads intended to serve applications to users across any device and location. Additional constraints are placed on these environments do to requirements for use of multiple-datacenters, and public cloud resources. In this session we will cover the considerations for building private clouds on heterogeneous environments as well connecting those resources seamlessly across multiple private clouds and into the public cloud.
Date & Time: Thursday October 16th, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Cisco will have a number of demonstrations in booth D211. Our demonstrations will include:
