Keynote & Cisco Speaking Sessions

Ben Gibson

Keynote:

Wednesday, October 20, 9 a.m.
Ben Gibson
Vice President, Data Center/Virtualization

The Advantage of a World Without Walls

Time and again, we have shown that as we pull down walls, we increase the power of IT to benefit the enterprise. In the past, we have pulled down physical walls and today, we see organizational and functional walls begin to crumble. As VP of Cisco Data Center Solutions, Ben Gibson has been in an excellent position to witness to this progression and has, in fact, helped pull down a few of those walls. In this keynote, Ben will discuss the seeming contradiction of creating openness and choice with an ecosystem marketplace while actually reducing risk and complexity and increasing service velocity. Finally, Ben will explore what Cisco is doing to accelerate this trend and what he is hearing from our customers.

Demonstrations

Demo Name
Demo Description
Mobility Troubleshooting performance and security concerns on wireless networks is challenging. As wireless networks become mission critical and users get more mobile, resolving these challenges becomes a higher priority.

If you are tired of chasing down "phantom" interference problems and policing security policies, let us show you how the latest developments from Cisco can dramatically simplify and even automate these tasks.

Discover how the revolutionary new Cisco CleanAir system can:
  • Detect RF interference that other systems can't see
  • Identify the interference source and locate it on a floor plan
  • Provide automatic adjustments to optimize wireless coverage around interference. Learn how you can optimize 802.11n performance with Cisco CleanAir technology today
Application Performance Enterprises are always looking at new ways to increase productivity, optimize network resources, and provide innovative services to their customers and employees. This demo showcases Cisco Application Performance technologies such as Wide Area Application Service (WAAS) to enable enhanced, secure, and cost-effective cloud-based collaboration services through Cisco WebEx and business application acceleration. The demo includes the ease of turning on WAAS on the services-ready engine (SRE) for Integrated Services Router Generation 2 (ISR G2) platforms, enhancing application performance using primary Cisco technologies such as Network-Based Application Recognition (NBAR), and enhancing WebEx experience using WAAS and WebEx node on the ASR 1000 Series to provide a consistent and reliable collaboration experience for the user while reducing branch footprint and conserving WAN bandwidth. The NAM Virtual Blade will also be showcased to monitor network performance and manage and improve application delivery.
Green This demonstration will showcase the new EnergyWise Orchestrator power management software and Cisco Catalyst 3750-X Switches. It will show how the EnergyWise solution supporting the Cisco Catalyst switches and ISRs can help customers manage power by controlling Power over Ethernet (PoE) devices as well as PCs and reduce energy costs. We will also demonstrate how easy it is to control power to devices and generate insightful reports at the data center and campus. The demo will feature new innovations such as StackPower and demonstrate high-availability and greener switching. The demo will also show the integration of intelligent power distribution units (PDUs) to the data center and campus environments.
Security This demo features the latest Cisco Borderless Network Security capabilities with AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client 3.0 and ASA 5585-X. These capabilities provide comprehensive secure mobility and threat defense solutions.

AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client 3.0:
  • Converged connectivity supporting IPsec/SSL VPN
  • Extended web security support with ScanSafe integration
  • 802.1X supplicant to secure access to the network
  • MACsec to encrypt data from endpoint device to the network
ASA 5585-X:
  • High performance security appliance with a compact 2U form factor
  • High-speed termination of AnyConnect VPN connections
  • Integrated security (firewall, IPS, and VPN) for robust threat defense
  • Twice the efficacy and guaranteed threat coverage
Data Center Solutions This demo highlights the power of the architectural approach in delivering data center services. It describes how technologies such as virtualization are fostering a cohesive approach to data center design, while providing important TCO and operational efficiencies. Furthermore, it discusses strategies for migrating from a siloed approach to a more holistic approach in data center design.
Business Video This demonstration showcases the possibilities of any-to-any business video on a medianet. In this demo, we show the interoperability of Cisco Business Video products, including the Cisco Flip Video camcorder, Cisco Media Experience Engine, Cisco TelePresence conferencing systems, as well as the Cisco Show and Share video portal. This demo also shows the power of the medianet, which is an intelligent network optimized to deliver rich-media traffic, such as video. We will show medianet features such as autoprovisioning, video monitoring, and autoconfiguration as a part of this demo.
Data Center Solutions This demo will demonstrate how Cisco UCS Manager through service profiles (SPs) can help customers deploy servers more quickly with higher quality and less complexity compared to other traditional blade systems on the market. This demo will also discuss how the SP will significantly reduce the time to repair a system if a failure occurs.
