Step through the basic setup of the Linksys WRT-300N wireless router. Learn about the various wireless security features, including WEP, WPA, AES and TKIP security options. Discuss VPN and practice setting up a basic VPN connection. Understand the differences in the Linksys "n" series routers that are approved for the curriculum. Observe a working setup and demo of the new Linksys IP-based video surveillance system, including Pan/Tilt/Zoom, network attached storage and wireless VPN. 105

Security in CCNA A laptop is required to participate in this session. The session addresses the key concepts of network security covered in the CCNA courses. You will learn about different types of threats, attacks, mitigation techniques, and Cisco IOS software tools to help secure networks. The session includes extensive hands-on lab activities using NETLAB. This session is for instructors planning to teach CCNA Exploration. CCNA Discovery instructors are welcome. 120

The University of Alaska and other schools use a blended distance learning program designed to serve students that might not otherwise be able to participate in Cisco Networking Academy classes. Learn how online tools are utilized to conduct interactive classroom sessions with students. This session consists of a case study for blended distance learning followed by an interactive training session using IPv6 concepts taught in CCNA Exploration 4. In a hands-on lab, participants can use distance tools to collaboratively implement IPv6 in a lab from the CCNP BSCI course. 120

Strategies for Recruiting and Retaining Students Share best practices with instructors who have successful models to recruit and retain students in the Networking Academy. In addition, learn from a speaker from the STEM Equity Pipeline, an NSF funded project of the National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity Education Foundation, which is focused on building the expertise of professional development staff working with STEM teachers. The projects' professional development efforts translate research into practice for increasing the participation and completion of women and girls in STEM career cluster programs at the secondary and community college level. This session will focus on best practices that Cisco Academy teachers can implement to help accomplish this goal and how you can get involved in the professional development activities of the STEM Equity Pipeline. 90
