Business continuity and resiliency requirements must be built into the design and release process for new products, not tacked on later. Cisco's Global Supply Chain team has developed a Supply Chain Risk Management process framework, engagement model, metrics, and toolset to help ensure that business continuity is part of product development:
- Business Continuity Process: Assess and test the resilience of supply chain nodes and internal processes to measure and help ensure recoverability by establishing resiliency standards.
- Crisis Management: Coordinate proactive and reactive measures through global event monitoring to identify disruptions, assess their possible impact, and adopt recovery plans to limit disruption to our customers.
- Resiliency: Mitigate use of high-risk components and supply chains for sustaining products and incorporate resiliency requirements into new products and supply chains.
