Project ID:RFP-999 Title:Other Topics Summary:Cisco continues to accept proposals on other topics. This RFP (RFP-999) allows you to submit proposals on topics you create. If someone at Cisco has already agreed to act as Sponsor for your project, you may submit a full proposal directly. Otherwise, you must first submit a pre-proposal, to allow us to attempt to find a Sponsor. If we cannot find a Sponsor, you will not be able to submit a full proposal. Full Description:Cisco encourages research across a broad range of areas, and continues to invite research proposals on topics of your choosing/creation. Some example areas include, but are not limited to: Hardware: VLSI chips, optics, processors, high-speed interfaces, wireless networking, boards/chassis, switches, routers, low-power devices and systems; Software: Embedded systems, operating systems, special-purpose databases, special-purpose compilers, routing, traffic management, network management software, security systems, protocol software, network applications; Other: New network applications and new ways to use networks, performance prediction, effect of new traffic types and scale, mechanisms for social interaction. There are links in the "Proposal Submission" section below, where you can submit either a pre-proposal (if you don't yet have a Cisco Sponsor), or a full proposal (if you do already have a Cisco sponsor). A pre-proposal requires a 6-10 sentence (2000 character maximum) summary of the proposed research, as well as basic contact information, and a list of researchers you propose to work on the project. Cisco will use the pre-proposal to try to identify a Cisco Sponsor for the project. The full-proposal application requests additional information, including a budget, Cisco hardware requirements, a brief summary of anticipated research collaboration with Cisco, and a full description of the proposed research project. The project description should outline the specific problem and goals of your research, and ideally be limited to 2 pages. Please attach this proposal description as either a PDF file or as text in the appropriate section of the application. Once submitted, your application cannot be modified, so you may wish to familiarize yourself with the online application before beginning. Incomplete applications will be returned to you for further elaboration as needed. Constraints and other information:Awards made under this RFP will normally be in the form of unrestricted gifts. It is Cisco policy not to pay indirect costs (overhead) on unrestricted gifts. If you do not have a Cisco Sponsor for your work, submit a pre-proposal 2. If you have a Cisco Sponsor for your work, you may submit a full proposal Questions? Contact: research@cisco.com |
