International Supplier Diversity United KingdomMinority Supplier Development UK (MSDUK) is the official U.K. partner of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), helping ethnic minority businesses in the United Kingdom gain access to corporate supply chains. Established in 2006 as a non-profit corporate membership organization, MSDUK currently has 38 companies, including Cisco, as members. MSDUK is establishing a strong partnership with the London Organising Committee for Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG). This partnership will help large and small minority businesses become part of the supply chain for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and will offer excellent opportunities in the United Kingdom and the world. 75,000 Opportunities The range of goods, works, and services required to present the London 2012 Games is as broad and diverse as the people and competitors who will visit and participate in them for two weeks. Officials for the Games estimate they will have some 7,000 direct contracts, which, together with its suppliers, will form supply chains of around 75,000 opportunities. At CompeteFor, the unique, free portal for the London 2012 Games, suppliers and other parties can register their business details and obtain information on contract opportunities. In the past, MSDUK has invited Games and CompeteFor executives to give presentations about the procurement process, and similar workshops will be organized in the future. Volunteer Applications Open in 2010 Volunteering offers an excellent way for people to become part of the London 2012 Games. An estimated 70,000 volunteers will be required to help the Games run smoothly. Applications for volunteers will open in 2010, and Specialist (such as those with sport or medical training) and Generalist volunteers will then be given full training and a specific role. To get further information on London 2012 Games opportunities and volunteering, here are a few important websites: MSDUK will be attending the NMSDC National Conference and Business Opportunity Fair, October 25–28, 2009, in New Orleans, Louisiana. We look forward to seeing you then. For more information, please email to Minority Supplier Development UK. |
