At Cisco our goal is to achieve "disability confidence": an understanding of how disability affects every aspect of business and a commitment to remove all barriers for our employees, customers, partners, and suppliers. We design our offices, labs, and systems to accommodate employees with disabilities. Our products, services, websites, and documentation are made accessible, either through their design or through use of assistive technology.
We are proud to have a strong internal resource in the form of our Cisco Disability Awareness Network (CDAN) that serves as both a support group and plays an advisory role in the disability arena. CDAN is a global network with members in 4 chapters representing 8 countries—and counting.
We also work with disability-focused organizations worldwide to enhance our physical facilities, increase awareness of disability issues in the workplace, and promote employment opportunities for people with disabilities:
- Cisco is a gold sponsor of the National Business and Disability Council, the leading U.S. resource center for innovative ways to integrate people with disabilities into the workplace.
- For more than 10 years, Cisco has fostered a relationship with Project Hired, which specializes in helping people with disabilities find work. These people then consult with us on accessibility initiatives and workplace modifications.
- The Employers Forum on Disability, of which Cisco is a gold sponsor, provides information on disability policy and awareness for our European markets.
