Cisco Asian Affinity Network (CAAN)

As Vice President of Strategic Planning at Cisco Systems, Kimberly Marcelis oversees a diverse organization including the Business Process Development Group (BPDG), Internet Capabilities Group (ICG), Business Effectiveness team and Connected Operations Office. Together, this organization drives business transformational efforts and facilitates business process improvement across Cisco's operations, with the goal of improving productivity and customer interactions.

Since joining Cisco in March 2000 as a senior leader in the Internet Capabilities Group, Kimberly has held various positions within the Operations, Processes, and Systems OPS organization with increasing responsibility. In 2001, she was promoted to Director to lead the ICG team in helping Cisco leverage the internet as an enabler for growth and productivity. By 2003, Marcelis had become a Senior Director and her team expanded to include the Business Process Development Group. During the next three years, Marcelis established Cisco’s Enterprise Process Framework and the OPS strategic planning processes, two critical accomplishments that laid the foundation for Cisco’s future growth. In 2006, she was promoted to Vice President, Strategic Planning. She is a key member of several Corporate governing bodies: Connected Operations Council, Strategy Exchange Board, and Business Effectiveness Council.

Marcelis' key accomplishments at Cisco include the establishment of the Business Process Operations Council (BPOC) and the Internet Capabilities Review. With her unique ability to build effective cross-functional teams and to steer stakeholders through key decisions, Marcelis has been the driving force behind many of Cisco’s productivity efforts.

Prior to joining Cisco, Marcelis held a senior leadership position at Andersen Consulting providing management consulting services to clients in the health care, financial services and consumer products industries. She has also held various consulting roles focused in financial, customer, and industry segments at Windermere Associates and Chase Manhattan Bank.

Kimberly received her bachelor's degree in Russian from Bryn Mawr College and her Masters in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.
