What is it like to work here?

The work is challenging and varied. There are no “gopher” tasks, and I get to work with people representing lots of different departments and business functions.

What is a typical "day in the life" like? What do you spend your time doing?

I wouldn’t say I’ve had a “typical” day at Cisco – that’s one of the reasons I like it here. It seems like every day I’m exposed to something new and different, which means every day I make a new decision on how to allocate my time and efforts.

How do you work together with your team?

Since I’m continuing my internship through the school year, I now work remotely, and sometimes at odd hours. That means I work with my team mostly via email and telephone. Fortunately, my boss and my team have been extremely accommodating.

Why did you choose to work at Cisco?

My career goals are to work with technology companies on legal issues that are relevant to the industry. I chose to work at Cisco because they are a leader in the industry, and I want to learn how the successful companies use legal services to become leaders and stay leaders.

What is your favorite thing about working here?

As an intern, I feel like my contributions are significant and valued, which is very rewarding. That’s definitely my favorite thing about working here.

What advice would you give to anyone interested in joining Cisco?

Literally every single person I worked with had valuable experience, was enthusiastic about using that experience to help me with my work and with my career as a whole, and really made an effort to be accessible. My advice to anyone interested in joining Cisco would be to take advantage of that.
