Business Overview

Cisco is now looking to recruit for its newly created Software Research and Development Lab based in Galway, Ireland. The Galway Lab is being set up specifically to expand Cisco's product portfolio in the area of Unified Communications. In this space Cisco continues to enhance its existing voice and data capabilities by integrating other means of communications including video, instant messaging and end user presence sharing.

Our Opportunity

Title : Software Test and Quality Assurance Engineer
Location : Galway Ireland
Program Start Date : Summer 2008
Language requirements : None (other than english)

Primary Responsibilities

• Product Feature Requirements analysis and Quality Standard definition.
• Automated Test system solution development and prototyping using scripting languages and tools such as WinRunner and Rational Robot, etc.
• Documentation including contributing to Functional Specifications, Test Specifications and Unit Test documents.
• Potentially some Software Development and Coding including development in C/C++, Java and other languages (Perl, TCL, or other proprietary scripting languages) to create automated test environments.
• Manual unit test completion including first level problem reporting, investigation and documentation.
• Lab deployment, configuration and support.
• Maintain target Quality Standards (ISO/TL9000).

• Good communication skills, both written and oral.
• Be self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and be flexible.

Capabilities required

The successful candidate will have some of the following skills:

• Information Systems deployment, configuration and test including Data Networking knowledge.
• Basic to intermediate coding skills in C/C++, Java (JUnit) and VB an advantage.
• Knowledge of automated test utilities and development environments (such as Perl, TCL scripting languages, WinRunner, Rational Robot) an advantage.
• Database deployment and maintenance skills an advantage.
• Knowledge and experience on Microsoft Windows™ Server and Linux Operating Systems.
• Deployment knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint an advantage.
• Deployment knowledge of IBM Lotus Domino, Sametime an advantage.
• Knowledge of VoIP protocols (SIP, H.323) an advantage.
• Cisco Certification and product knowledge an advantage.

Education and knowledge required

B.Sc. / B.Eng / M.Sc / M.Eng or equivalents in the areas of Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Software Development, Computer Networking, Electronics or other equivalent disciplines with an emphasis on Software Design and/or Test practices.
