Alpheus Mangale Assumes Role of Managing Director for Cisco in South Africa
Cisco has appointed Alpheus Mangale as the Managing Director for Cisco South Africa to drive the next phase of the company's growth strategy in the region.
Mangale, who will be based in Johannesburg and report directly to Cisco's senior vice president for the Emerging Theatre, Duncan Mitchell, succeeds David Meads who reaches the end of a two and a half year assignment in July 2012. Meads will work alongside Mangale, as he transitions into the role.
South Africa represents one of the fastest growing countries for Cisco and provides many opportunities to use the network as the platform for economic growth and competitive advantage. Cisco's operations in South Africa have grown considerably over the years, representing a product and services business that is one of the largest in Cisco's Emerging Theatre within Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Under Mangale's leadership, Cisco South Africa will continue to focus on enabling digital inclusion by working with local government and organisations to facilitate ICT transformation and boost economic development.
Highlights/ Key Facts:
- Alpheus Mangale joins Cisco after 15 years at Dimension Data Group where he held numerous positions including systems engineering, product management, principal consultant, chief technology officer and chief operating officer roles. His most recent role was Sales Director for Dimension Data South Africa region leading the sales strategy and execution across all the regions, market verticals (sectors) as well as across all the company's lines of business. His tenure at Dimension Data also included 5 years in the United Kingdom and Europe where he was an integral part of Dimension Data's global expansion strategy.
- Mangale is a seasoned Management Executive in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector with experience in providing business solutions and strategies to both the private and public sector organisations. He has established business relationships at various levels within telecommunications (Mobile, VAS, Wire line & Cable) service providers, enterprise and commercial as well as government.
- Mangale's previous experience also spans leading global organisations in numerous sectors throughout the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
