Qatar's Ooredoo One of Three Communications Supporting Global Launch of Cisco Business Intelligence Solutions

BARCELONA, Spain – 8 March 2015 – At Mobile World Congress 2015, Cisco has introduced Mobility IQ, a breakthrough mobility software as a service analytics solution that unlocks the power of visual network knowledge and drives unparalleled business outcomes for service providers.

Qatar’s Ooredoo was one of three global communications companies supporting the worldwide launch, with Germany’s Deutsche Telekom, and Italy’s Telecom Italia.

Mobility IQ combines data from Wi-Fi, 3G, and LTE network activity for real-time visibility into the network, user, and business intelligence.

With these insights, service providers and their business customers can deliver valuable, new, differentiated mobile services in marketing and managed services to their customers, while achieving new levels of network operational efficiency.

Demonstrating the strong opportunity for Middle East service providers, the Middle East and Africa (MEA) will post the world’s fastest growth rates for mobile data traffic to 2019, increasing 15-fold, according to the Cisco Visual Networking Index: Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast, 2014-2019.

Thanks to increasing mobile devices, machine-to-machine connections, and mobile broadband, MEA is also posting the world’s fastest growth in mobile connection speeds and IPv6-capable devices.  By 2019, mobile data will represent 40 percent of MEA’s total data traffic; worldwide Wi-Fi offload traffic will exceed cellular traffic.

One of the world’s best-connected countries, Qatar ranks third in the Middle East and Africa in active mobile broadband subscriptions at 76.8 percent in 2013, according to International Telecommunications Union’s State of Broadband 2014.

Ooredoo aims to make Qatar the world’s best broadband country, with 100 percent 4G+ LTE-Advanced mobile broadband and fiber optic network penetration in 2015.

In line with Ooredoo’s vision of enriching people’s lives, the company has deployed the advanced ICT infrastructure for Qatar’s megaprojects, with business intelligence opening up opportunities in retail advertising, safety and security, and Smart Cities.
