DUBAI, UAE – 2 June 2014 – Cisco has recognized the UAE Advanced Network for Research Education (Ankabut) for the successful completion of the Ankabut Data Center Project, which will enable them to become a Services Provider for Education in the UAE, delivering a vast portfolio of hosted services such as video and collaboration solutions, as well as, infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and Software as a service (SaaS).
At a ceremony held at Ankabut's headquarters in Abu Dhabi recently, Mr. Andy MacDonald, Vice President for Services Sales, Cisco Middle East Africa, Russia & CIS (MEAR) presented Mr. Fahem Al Nuaimi, Chief Executive Officer, Ankabut, with a plaque to acknowledge the organization's achievements.
Ankabut is enjoying rapid growth, and is fast becoming an established Service Provider for Education in UAE. The Ankabut Project is the UAE Advanced Network for Research and Education. It was established in 2009 based on a grant from the ICT Fund and Khalifa University. Ankabut brings the latest solutions and technologies to the education community, and enables the UAE education establishments to become leaders in research and collaboration.
Cisco has been working closely with Ankabut since its inception, and was chosen to deliver an end-to-end Ankabut network infrastructure throughout the UAE. In 2013, Cisco was further appointed to deploy Ankabut's Data Center infrastructure hosting all current and future Ankabut services.
