Women throughout the world often run the greatest risk of being excluded from the opportunities offered by the field of IT. Without proper IT recruitment strategies and training, women will continue to be left behind.

Each Academy that achieves 30% female participating students between January and December 2007 will be designated as a Gender Leadership Academy and will receive a special certificate from Cisco in recognition of those efforts. |

Today, Latin America and the Caribean as a whole averages 23% participating female students. The main goal is to achieve 30% participating female students overall in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as in each country. |
Success Stories

We will collect and disseminate information on best practice recruitment and retention strategies, female success stories that will inspire other women across the region in the IT field. Any story regarding success that motivates others is a good candidate for the success story competition.
Grand Prize: The Academy that demonstrates particular improvement in the area of gender equity will receive a CCNA lab equipment.
