Earthquake Information

We offer our deepest condolences to the victims of the devastating tragedy that occurred on March 11th and our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected.
Cisco will support the people of the region and affected areas in whatever ways we can.

Notification:

Cisco offices are currently open and fully operational on a business as usual basis. Cisco will continuously work to limit the use of unnecessary and non-critical power to respond to the power supply shortage.

  1. Planned Blackouts
    On March 14th Tokyo Electronic Power (TEPCO) announced planned black out in the Tokyo metropolitan area to prevent "uncontrolled" electrical power outages during the peak periods. At this point we see minimum impact to in business operation.

  2. Customer Support Service
    Contact Center is operating as normal. Japan TAC will deliver priority support for government, hospital and public infrastructure industry customer for recovery. We will make our best effort to provide normal support for all customers, but there may be some delays in responses due to increased volume of support requests.
    The majority of our service parts depots are in normal operation except several depots in Tohoku area. There may be unexpected delays of service part deliveries due to road conditions and traffic restrictions by authority. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

    Recertification Extension
    Due to the recent earthquake in Japan, Learning@Cisco would like to help by removing the worry of having to recertify in the near future.We have extended the recertification date by three months for those candidates whose certification will expire between March 11, 2011 and June 15, 2011

How Cisco can support
  1. Matching fund by Cisco Foundation
    Cisco is raising money from its employees worldwide, and Cisco Foundation will match up to 1 million dollars for the contributions. The relief fund will be donated to organizations that promote disaster recovery programs.
    Cisco also sends food and supplies to affected areas through Second Harvest Japan.

  2. Cisco to donate Web Meeting/Conferencing service
    For organizaitons which have to work at home due to the earthquake and have difficulty in having in-person meetings and smooth communication, we offer the following two Cisco WebEx services for free to enable meeting and conference over the Internet. The services are helpful for those who have difficulty in doing business with remote locations because of disruption of telephone service and those who are required to work at home due to restriction of public transport. These services are offered to any organization including private sectors, public sectors, NGOs, partners, and others which are directly or indirectly affected by the earthquake, including those who do not have business deal with us.


  3. Web Meeting Support:
    You can have meeting via Web by sharing voice, video and data as well as applications. It also allows having face to face conversation with Web camera, sharing files and having chat with participants. Hosts registered can host Web meeting with up to 25 attendees, as many times as you want during valid period. You are licensed to have up to 5 hosts for 2 months.


    Conference / Broadcast Support service:
    You can hold large-scale events such as companywide conference and broadcast event. It allows up to 1,000 attendees to take part in the events through internet and you can deliver company messages, touch upon any topics, and get feedbacks from attendees. You are licensed to have up to 5 hosts for 2 months. If we receive many requests or have any conflict in the event time among requests, we may need to prioritize and accommodate the dates for critical meetings. Your understanding in this matter is greatly appreciated.
