From March 24, Cisco will be presenting new solutions for public safety and civil protection in the Customer Briefing Center. The showcase demonstrates integrated solutions for Public Safety and Security built on various Cisco technologies as well as selected products from partners. In collaboration with the IT solution provider cobixx, Cisco has developed an innovative data and communication system for emergency vehicles: “SCOUT“. It can be used both for fire fighting and rescue and in the field of internal and external security. Within the scope of a pilot project, a specially adapted version for fire-fighting operations was installed in an emergency vehicle provided by BMW. SCOUT stands for SChnelle Ortsunabhängige UeberTragung (fast transmission from any location). The system helps relief units and rescue teams quickly gain a full picture of the accident, supply operation controllers on-site with important information rapidly and provide specialist knowledge at the site of operation immediately. SCOUT establishes a reliable connection between the control center and the site of operation and transmits all operation-relevant data. Specialists can be hooked up by live video; the remote-controlled camera on the roof of the vehicle reliably documents the incident. The network connection of the vehicle is made either via UMTS, HSDPA, WLAN, or directly via satellite. The CONET UC Radio Suite uses Cisco solutions to integrate communication channels like radio (analog/digital), fixed and IP telephony, but also GSM (cell phone). Thus, seamless group communication across different radio technologies is enabled. Emergency vehicles equipped with analog radio units can communicate with TETRA subscribers anytime. Using this solution, operators avoid costs and adjust migration periods to economic conditions. This is especially relevant in analog to digital radio migration scenarios. Practical examples show how communication and surveillance systems work on a single IP platform. They enable the comprehensive communication and coordination between authorities and rescue and security missions. In addition, more information on solutions for building automation is provided in the CBC: video surveillance, alarm services and control of fire or emergency exit doors. |
