Digital Signage takes modern advertising to a new level. The term Digital Signage describes the application of digital media contents in advertising or information systems such as electronic billboards and traffic signs, door signs, large-screen projections, or in-store advertising.
For example, this method of advertising offers great competitive advantages for branch outlets. Crucial and highly topical themes and advertising messages can be directly transferred with a simple push of a button to the display windows of the branches. This way crooked posters, hand-written notices in the display windows or dusty cardboard stands are methods of the past.
The contents of each monitor can be quickly and flexibly retrieved from a central server, the Digital Media Manager (DMM), through existing IT infrastructures such as WLAN or LAN. Data combinations such as videos, images or information are temporarily stored on a digital media player to be shown later in a predetermined sequence and frequency on the monitor.
This way advertising is always up to date and precisely tailored to the customer group. The costs for the preparation and dispatch of advertising materials such as posters, promotion displays and flyers are therefore eliminated.
Cisco is already demonstrating the practical application of this modern advertising method at its Customer Briefing Center.
