25 September 2008. Cisco has recognized the excellent momentum that the Mediterranean Geography region is experiencing, giving an award to Jordi Botifoll, Vice-President of the Mediterranean Geography, during its annual Global Sales Meeting (GSM) held recently in San Francisco, USA. .
The award was presented to Mr. Botifoll as a recognition for the Mediterranean Geography team’s (composed of six countries - Spain, Portugal, Israel, Cyprus, Malta and Greece) dynamism who led to business and economic successes.  One of these achievements was the Mediterranean team's ability to achieve approximately 24% growth (year-over-year) in the company’s last fiscal quarter, ended last July. This achievement made the Mediterranean region one of the largest growing geography of the company across Europe, and made 2008's Mediterranean team accept the award.
Financial figures and a respected growth were not the sole reason for this great achievement. Excellent team, aligned business development support, team cooperation across the Mediterranean region, and last but not least  impressive country results throughout the year all these and more made the Mediterranean team, including approximately 1500 employees,  to the most successful and inspiring team this year.
Throughout the year events such as “The Engineer of the Year” awarded to Mr. Jordi Botifoll from the Spanish professional Telecommunication Association in Spain and Cisco Spain as Best place to Work demonstrated the great appreciation and awareness created across the region as well. “The Engineer of the Year Award” held last February in Barcelona is a unique event for Spain’s ICT professionals. It is organized by the Spanish government Telecommunications Institute.  The individuals considered for the award were selected from across Europe.  It is the Mediterranean team effort and successes that made the Institute reward Cisco and Jordi Botifoll with this prestigious award.
The Mediterranean team has proven that commitment, teamwork and collaboration across different Cisco units at both, European and worldwide levels, is fundamental to share and learn experiences, accelerate the response to our Customers needs and ultimately bring value to our Customers.
The excellent Mediterranean results reflect the right execution of our vision to develop the region’s own strategy”, said Jordi Botifoll, Vice-President of the Mediterranean region at Cisco, during the event in which he was awarded. “Collaboration, support and teamwork levels with our respective European market segments have resulted in a real boost for our growth in the market and for the improvement of our commitment with customers”.
Mr. Botifoll , as well as other senior leaders at Cisco, believes that as the network becomes the platform for deploying communication solutions, Cisco is uniquely positioned to lead the growth of the market in the next years. Internet 3.0 will result in innovation and productivity thanks to collaboration tools such as Unified Communications and Telepresence.
