Adding support for a new Cisco device to your CiscoView application: |
Using the Software Selector tool here at Cisco.com, choose the CiscoView device file that you wish to download. Any prerequisite files will automatically be gathered up with your device file and compressed into one .zip file for you to download. |
Save the zipped file bundle (cv5packages.zip) to your CiscoView server in a temporary directory, such as /tmp in Unix or C:\temp in Windows. |
on UNIX: |
Unzip 'cv5packages.zip' using a decompression utility such
as 'unzip', saving the resulting files back into that same temporary directory.
If you do not have the 'unzip' utility on your system, you may download
'unzip' from an external site.
The above decompression procedure will extract multiple .zip and .readme files. Do not unzip these individual files. |
On your CiscoView server, run '/opt/CSCOpx/bin/xdsu'. |
| Step 5 | Using the Device Support Utility, navigate to the temporary directory where you extracted the compressed files and select the new device(s) you wish to add to CiscoView. Be sure to select any prerequisite files (either StackMaker or SwitchAddlets) that may appear in the list of available files. |
You must be logged in as the user 'root' to perform this action. |
on WIN95/98/NT/2000: |
Unzip your 'cv5packages.zip' file using the WinZip utility,
saving the resulting files back into that same temporary directory.
If you do not have the WinZip utility, you may download
it from an external site.
The above decompression procedure will extract multiple .zip and .readme files. Do not unzip these individual files. |
From your CiscoView server, choose
Start->Programs->CiscoWorksWindows or CiscoWorks2000->Add & Delete Device Support |
Using the Device Support Utility, navigate to the temporary directory where you extracted the downloaded files and then select the new device(s) you wish to add to CiscoView. Be sure to select any prerequisite files (either StackMaker or SwitchAddlets) that may appear in the list of available files. |
On Windows NT, you must be an NT 'Administrator' to perform this action. |
