Telephone Return

The Telephone Return fields are required for modems that support telephone return systems. Most of these fields are composed from a number of encapsulated type/length/value fields. The encapsulated fields define the specific parameters for the modem in use. Note that these type fields are only valid within the encapsulated capabilities option ring.

The following information is entered by the user to:

Service Provider Name

Specifies the service provider. This entry supersedes and replaces any stored name from the TCD management message.

Telephone Number 1

Specifies the telephone number (ISP number) of the service provider. The modem MUST dial this phone number first when attempting to initiate a Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) session. This entry supersedes and replaces any stored number from the TCD management message.

Example:

14085551234 (Null terminated ASCII string representing phone number)

Note: The telephone number should not be separated by dashes, spaces, parentheses, brackets, or other symbols.

Telephone Number 2

Specifies the telephone number (ISP number) of the service provider. This is a backup number to be used by the modem if it is unable to successfully connect to the TRAC using "Telephone Number 1." This entry supersedes and replaces any stored number from the TCD management message.

Example:

14085551235 (Null terminated ASCII string representing phone number)

Note: The telephone number should not be separated by dashes, spaces, parentheses, brackets, or other symbols.

Telephone Number 3

Specifies the telephone number (ISP number) of the service provider. This is a backup number to be used by the modem if it is unable to successfully connect to the TRAC using either "Telephone Number 1" or "Telephone Number 2." This entry supersedes and replaces any stored number from the TCD management message.

Example:

14085551236 (Null terminated ASCII string representing phone number)

Note: The telephone number should not be separated by dashes, spaces, parentheses, brackets, or other symbols.

Connection Threshold

Specifies the retry count threshold for registration attempts. This entry supersedes and replaces any stored connection threshold information from the TCD management message.

Example:

5 (Integer)

Note: The Connection Threshold number must be an integer of 1 or greater.

Login Username

Specifies the login username for PPP authentication. This entry supersedes and replaces any stored username from the TCD management message.

Example:

rsmith (Null terminated ASCII string representing login username)

Login Password

Specifies the login password for Point-to-Point (PPP) authentication. This entry supersedes and replaces any stored password from the TCD management message.

Example:

cblmdm123 (Null terminated ASCII string representing login password)

DHCP Authenticate

Specifies DHCP server authentication. Yes (1); no (0). This entry supersedes and replaces any stored value from the TCD management message.

DHCP Server IP

Specifies the DHCP server IP address. This entry supersedes and replaces any stored value from the TCD management message. (For information on IP addressing, see the RFC 1918 specification.)

Example:

192.70.189.9

RADIUS Realm

Specifies the RADIUS realm name for PPP authentication. This entry supersedes and replaces any stored value from the TCD management message.

Example:

TelcoReturnUsers (Null terminated ASCII string representing RADIUS realm)

In this example, a logical identifier for a scope of users is used.

PPP Authenticate

Specifies the undistinguished octet value for PPP authentication. This entry supersedes and replaces any stored value from the TCD management message.

Demand Dial Inactivity Timer Threshold

Monitors network inactivity at the modem. This optional parameter limits the modem (upstream) network connectivity to periods of time when connectivity is required. The amount of time (in seconds) of this parameter is the measure of inactive networking time allowed to elapse before hanging up a telephone connection at the modem. To disable this feature, use the value 0.

Example: 30 (seconds)
