Set Up Vendor-Specific Information Fields

This procedure is used to set up the vendor-specific information fields (VSIFs) to provision DOCSIS 1.0 and DOCSIS 1.0+ modems.

Note: The top two fields (Vendor ID and Vendor Specific Info) apply to any DOCSIS 1.0 modems. The IOS Filename field applies to all Cisco uBR9xx DOCSIS 1.0 modems. The last two fields (Number of Phone Lines and IP Precedence) apply only to the Cisco uBR924 DOCSIS 1.0+ modems.

Step 1

Download a new Cisco IOS software image using the Upload Config button on the bottom left of the Cisco DOCSIS CPE Configurator---See Modify a Configuration File. This allows you to get the Cisco IOS configuration file from the web. The Cisco DOCSIS CPE Configurator provides two ways to get the Cisco IOS configuration file:

a. Download the tar file using the provided link. This is a compressed file containing both the binary configuration file (with the .bin file extension)

b. Download the ASCII file containing the parameters you entered. Cisco recommends this method to get the configuration file.

 

Step 2

Enable the voice port(s)---See Set the Voice Ports.

 

Step 3

Set up the VSIFs---For a cable modem, see Vendor Information (Cable).
