Q:
When is a Cisco IOS Software feature license required?
|
|
|
A:
In some cases, additional value-added functionality
is provided in Cisco IOS Software Images but not
covered by the "base" Cisco IOS Software License.
The right to use these features is offered through
a Feature License. For example, to use NetFlow
Switching on a Cisco 7200 series platform, the
WAN Packet Protocol/Netflow Feature License,
FR-WPP72, is required.
Note: A feature license conveys
the right to use a feature, but it cannot add a
feature to a software release that does not support
it. For example, purchasing a WAN Packet
Protocols/NetFlow license will not upgrade the
software to support NetFlow.

Q:
Why is there no product code displayed for my Feature Set listing in Cisco Feature Navigator?
|
|

A:
Most Feature Set listing results in CFN will include the Product Code; however some Cisco IOS images may be available as downloads from the Software Center, but may not be orderable through Cisco's ordering processes. In this case, no product code is assigned; older releases or rebuilds are examples where this could be the case.
