Enable Java and JavaScript in Internet Explorer
Many Cisco device managers require that you enable Java and JavaScript
on your PC. Follow these steps to enable Java and JavaScript in your Internet
Explorer browser.
Enable Java in Internet Explorer
Follow these steps to enable Java in your Internet Explorer
browser:
Note: If Java is not enabled, you will have to restart your PC when you
finish this procedure.

Open an Internet Explorer browser.

Click Tools > Internet
Options.

In the Internet Options window, click the Advanced
tab.

Scroll down the Settings list to the entry for Java (Sun). Verify
that the Use Java check box is checked. If not, check the box now.

Click OK. Reboot the PC if you are prompted to do
so.
Enable JavaScript in Internet Explorer
Follow these steps to enable JavaScript in your Internet Explorer
browser:

Open an Internet Explorer browser.

Click Tools > Internet
Options.

In the Internet Options window, click the Security
tab.

Click Custom Level.
-
In the Security Settings window, scroll down to the Scripting
section.
-
Click Enable under the entries for active
scripting and scripting of Java applets.
-
Click OK to close the Security Settings window,
and then click OK again to close the Internet Options
window.

Enable Java and JavaScript in Netscape
Many Cisco device managers require that you enable Java and JavaScript
on your PC. Follow these steps to enable Java and JavaScript in your Netscape
browser:

Launch the Netscape browser.

Click Edit > Preferences.

In the Preferences window, click
Advanced.
-
Ensure that the check boxes are checked for the options to enable
Java and native object scripting.

Click OK.

Verify the Java Version
To ensure that Cisco device managers load and run properly, verify that
you have Java version 1.4.2_05 or later. Follow these steps to check your Java
version:

Click Start > Run.
-
In the Run window, type cmd in the Open field, and
then click OK.

When the command window appears, type java
-version.
Note: Ensure you type a space after the word "java".

If your Java version is earlier than 1.4.2_05, you need to download
a newer version. For more information on how to upgrade your Java Runtime
Environment (JRE), go to Sun
Microsystems
. Look for the Downloads section, and then search for JRE.

Type exit to close the command
window.
