    Cisco Aironet Wireless LAN Client Adapter Firmware, Drivers and Utilities
    Wireless LAN client adapters require firmware, drivers and utilities [Aironet Client Utility (ACU), Aironet Client Monitor (ACM), or Aironet Desktop Utility (ADU)] for full functionality. Firmware for client adapters is selected based on the product series and client adapter type. Drivers and utilities are selected based on the operating system and client adapter type.

    Select from the Aironet Client Adapter Installation Wizard category or Individual Files category for all Wireless LAN Client Adapter card types:

    802.11a (5 GHz/54 Mbps)

    Special Notes:

    • Aironet Client Adapter Installation Wizard: If you are using Microsoft Windows 98, 2000, NT, Me, or XP you must use the Aironet Client Adapter Installation Wizard files. Separate Windows Express Bundled Files and Individual Windows Files with the latest Cisco Aironet WLAN client adapter software releases are no longer available for these Windows operating systems.
    • System Administrators Note: Two Windows Systems Adminstration Tools are available for Windows operating systems. These tools are used by system administrators in conjunction with Aironet Client Adapter Installation Wizard files.
    • Individual Files: If you are using Microsoft Windows CE, Mac OS, Linux, or MS-DOS operating systems you will use the Individual Files category.
    • Older Windows Files: Previous firmware, NDIS drivers and utilities files for Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT, Me, or XP are available under the Windows Legacy section at the bottom of this page.
    • Aironet Client Adapter Installation Wizard (For Windows)
      Standard Installation - Aironet Client Adapter Installation Wizard files are available for Cisco Aironet wireless LAN client adapters. The Windows operating system supported by each client adapter is specified in the display table and may include Windows 98, 2000, Me, NT or XP. Each Aironet Client Adapter Installation Wizard file contains the firmware, NDIS driver, and utilities (ACU, ACM, ADU) necessary to update a wireless LAN client adapter that is using one of these Windows operating systems.

      Release Notes for the Aironet Client Adapter Installation Wizard are available in the display table next to each Aironet Client Adapter Installation Wizard file. All necessary wireless LAN client adapter files are included in the Aironet Client Adapter Installation Wizard file.

      Instructions:
      A wireless LAN client adapter card must be installed or inserted into your Windows machine before beginning installation of the Aironet Client Adapter Installation Wizard file. Windows NDIS drivers and radio firmware can only be installed when a wireless LAN client adapter is available on the windows machine.

      After downloading the Aironet Client Adapter Installation Wizard file, double-click on the downloaded file. The file will self-extract and automatically determine your operating system and client adapter type - when a wireless LAN client adapter is properly installed. Next, the file will automatically run the setup file which auto-loads the firmware, NDIS driver, and utilities (ACU, ACM or ADU) onto the client machine.

      Individual loading of firmware, NDIS driver, or utilities (ACU, ACM or ADU) is not necessary when the Aironet Client Adapter Installation Wizard file is used. Please read the release notes for additional information.

    • Individual Files for Windows CE, Mac OS, Linux, and MS-DOS
       Customized Installation - Individual Windows CE, Mac OS, Linux, and MS-DOS operating system firmware, drivers, utilities and release note files for wireless LAN client adapters.

      For full functionality of the wireless LAN client adapter, the correct, corresponding firmware, driver and utility must be properly installed. For each product series, all operating systems use the same firmware but different utilities and drivers.

    Windows Express Bundled Files (Legacy)
    Older versions of Windows Express Bundled Files.

    Each Windows Express Bundled File contains previous (legacy) versions of firmware, NDIS driver, utilities (ACU) and release note files for a wireless LAN client adapter that is using the Windows operating system. Read Windows Express Bundled Files Special Instructions before downloading these files.
