Authors:
- Karen Fang Conroy, is currently based at Cisco Systems Corporate in San Jose, California, managing a Consulting Engineering group that reports to the Office of the CTO. She is responsible for the coordination and management of the technical sessions at Networkers, and would love to hear any ideas and comments from you to make it better. Karen attended Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, USA. Received Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management, Minor in Electrical Engineering. She worked at Hewlett-Packard Corporate as part of the group responsible for the design, deployment and support of the HP world-wide internal X.25 and TCP/IP networks. Karen co-authored Network Management: A Practical Perspective with Allan Leinwand, published by Addison Wesley as part of the their "UNIX and Open Systems Series.
- Eric Osborne, CCIE #4122, has been doing Internet engineering of one sort or another since 1995. He joined Cisco in 1998 to work in the Cisco TAC, moved from there to the ISP Expert Team and then to the MPLS Deployment team, and has been involved in MPLS since the Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1CT days.
- William R. Parkhurst, Ph.D., CCIE #2969, is a manager in the CCIE group at Cisco Systems. Bill is responsible for the Communications and Services CCIE track. Prior to joining the CCIE team, Bill was a Consulting Systems Engineer supporting the Sprint Operation. Bill first became associated with Cisco Systems while he was a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Wichita State University (WSU). In conjunction with Cisco Systems, WSU established the first CCIE Preparation Laboratory.
- Alvaro Retana, CCIE #1609, is currently a Development Test Engineer in theLarge Scale Switching and Routing Team, where he works first-hand on advanced features in routing protocols. Formerly, Alvaro was technical lead for both the Internet Service Provider Support Team and the Routing Protocols Team at the Technical Assistance Center in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. He is an acknowledged expert in BGP and Internet architecture.
- Faraz Shamim, CCIE #4131, is a Network Consulting Engineer with the Advance Network Services Team for the Service Provider (ANS-SP) in Cisco Systems. He provides Consulting Services to his Dedicated Service Providers. He wrote several documents, white papers and technical tips for OSPF, RIP, IGRP, EIGRP and BGP on Cisco Connection Online, CCO (www.cisco.com). He has also been engaged in developing and teaching the Cisco Internetworking Basic and Advance Bootcamp Training for Cisco New Hires. He has also taught the Cisco Bootcamp Course to MS Students at the University of Colorado at Boulder (BU) and Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET), Karachi, Pakistan. He has also been engaged in developing CCIE tests and proctoring the CCIE lab. He actively speaks at the Networkers Conference on the subject of Troubleshooting OSPF.
- Russ White, CCIE #2635, currently is working on the IOS Network Protocols Deployment and Scalability Team, where he is involved in the design and implementation of routing protocols and scalable network design. Russ is well known within Cisco for his knowledge of EIGRP, BGP, and other IP routing issues.
- Beau Williamson, CCIE #1346, is a Consulting Engineer in the Office of the CTO at Cisco Systems. His area of expertise is general IP networking, with a special focus on IP multicast. He is frequently called upon by Cisco customers and internal Cisco engineers around the world to consult on the design, implementation, and debugging of IP multicast networks. Beau is also the author and developer of Cisco's internal IP multicast training class, as well as a frequent presenter of IP-related topics at Cisco Networkers and CCIE conferences domestically and abroad.
